OEM Interior Chrome part #s and price?

Hi. Does anyone have the part #s or pricing on the new interior chrome bits?

Ideally, I'd like to get only a few of the pieces (tach, speedo and shift rings) but not sure if you'll be able to break up the kit. Also wanted to see if the price is in line with aftermarket options.

Thanks in advance.

XAlfa:

I will be ordering the following on Monday - will update for prices then.

In the meantime, the part numbers are:

1. Dash Board Hazard and Dim Switch Surrounds (2) - #62-10-6-936-278

2. Ashtray Ring - #51-16-7-127-915

3. GearShift Ring - #51-16-7-131-186

4. Speedometer Ring - #51-45-7-132-400

5. Air Vents Adjacent to Speedo (2) - #51-45-7-132-399

6. Handbrake Grip - #34-40-6-765-608

7. Tachometer (Single - Don't have number yet.

I didn't write the prices down, but I remember the total being significantly lower than the aftermarket stuff I've seen. Don't keep me to this, but I think vent rings, surrounds and speedo were something like $68 (phone quote - BMW Concord).

Thanks very much! It would be great if you could update this thread when you get firm prices.

Firm prices from BMW Concord:

1. Dash Board Hazard and Dim Switch Surrounds (2) - #62-10-6-936-278 - $17.80 each x 2 = $35.60.

2. Ashtray Ring - #51-16-7-127-915 - $11.30.

3. GearShift Ring - #51-16-7-131-186 - $11.30.

4. Speedometer Ring - #51-45-7-132-400 - $13.70.

5. Air Vents Adjacent to Speedo (2) - #51-45-7-132-399 - $13.70 x 2 = $27.40.

6. Handbrake Grip - #34-40-6-765-608 - $26.50.

7. Tachometer (Could not find number - other option is to buy new tach with chrome surround = $220.00 +/-).

Total of Items #1 - #6 = $125.80
If anyone can find the part number for the tach - drop me a PM. None of the items were in stock, but are expected in within 2 days.

These are OEM replacements? Not covers?

PebbleCrusher:

Those are the OEM chrome parts for the optional chrome interior package. They are not covers - they completely replace the existing silver/gray ones. They are being purchased from the parts department of my local BMW/Mini Dealer.

Prices seem almost too low - will report back on them when they come in (Thursday).

They do seem low, but if they are the real mccoy and the price is right... then the aftermarket folks have something to worry about.

Thanks for the prices and can't wait to hear back after they arrive.

The tach ring isn't available through ordering. The only way to get the OEM chrome ring is to buy a new tach. What people have been doing on the other side of the pond though, is buying an aftermarket tach ring, and buying the rest from MINI.

And those prices are likely correct. The Brits are all excited because the OEM chrome undercuts the aftermarket chrome packages by about half!

Paul are there any updates to the chrome installs you wrote back in May on Mini2? The thread there is quite long. Specifically, are there any easier ways or methods to do the Speedo?

The dealer gave me a run-down on how to install the parts. Everything with the exception of the speedo ring is a tug or a twist.

Apparently the speedo ring has a clip at 6 o'clock and is glued in place in several other spots.

Perhaps the parts are cheaper than after market bcause there're chrome plated plastic instead of chrome plated metal? Nothing wrong with plastic, almost everthing else in the interior is plastic.

A good buddy of mine ordered the RSpeed "chrome" parts.

2 to 3x the price of the OEM and they look pretty cheap to me.

A lot of money just for "rings".

BTW:

Moss Mini apparently has a tach cover (as opposed to a ring) that looks pretty close to OEM. I think it's around $60 - but that's still cheaper that the 200 bones for a new tach!

I just ordered my chrome from Mini SF. Any info/advice/warnings on removing the old pieces and popping in the new chromies is appreciated.

Hey.. has anyone seen the Mini CF dash for $150?

Mike:

- The hazard surround and light dimmer surround just pop off.

- The shift ring and cup holders/ashtray also just pull off. Check RedLine Accessories how-to on removing the shift ring for the installation of new gaiter.

- The vents twist off.

- The speedo requires removal of the top of the dash, then the face plate. If someone has an easier way to do this - let me know.

Anything I'm missing?

Installed the chrome bits today. Easy - even the dreaded speedo.

From start to finish it took 30 minutes to install all pieces: speedo, 2 vents, 2 -surrounds, cupholders, shift ring and handbrake.

Still looking for a cost effective tach surround - any ideas?

Glad to hear the switch over was easy. Switching out the side view mirrors for chrome was easy too, but I snapped a couple of the little clips on the old mirror.

I'm looking forward to the interior upgrade arriving next week.

Dunno. You said cupholders. If it's this...
2. Ashtray Ring - #51-16-7-127-915 - $11.30.

Then I guess we need 2.

You're correct for the front cupholders. You should only need one.

For newer MINIs, there is also a rear chrome ring cupholder.

Ok, I'm just a bit confused. In the front I have 2 "cupholders". One has the ashtray insert. Buying 1 of #2 on the list covers that one right? And I also have a cup holder in the rear. What part number do I need for that?

I've got the RSpeed stuff and it is high quality, chromed metal, and looks great IMHO.

I agree it's a lot of money, but I am very happy with the look and quality.
