Still working on write up by the way, 12 hour shifts plus a baby on the way has kept me plenty busy.

^^^ thanks for clarifying lol

I don't believe you can fit the factory xenons into these as I believe the bulbs are different sizes so they might not fit in the socket securely.

I did the same as him, had halogens, bought the projectors. Came with Halogen bulbs, but upgraded them to HID Bulbs.

The thing is I have Xenons. Not halogens. The other concern is that my connectors won't be plug and play due to me having factory xenons.

It still will be plug & play. You will just lose your headlight washers. I did it with my 2005 Mini Cooper S that came with factory xenons. I only swapped because my factories were seriously faded with a cloudy film.

That is correct. Factory xenons will NOT fit. You will have to utilize a H7 bulb. You can use a aftermarket H7 HID Kit which is what did. Worked like a charm!

Okay. I'm replacing them because of the EXACT reason you are. Now my question is what HID kit did you use? How did you mount it? Because the factory stuff is all fitted against the headlight housing. Does the Helix headlight provide that?

I used a hid slim ballast kit called Sportiva. I mounted the ballast underneath the Depo headlight housing with industrial Velcro tape. I followed this post for reference.https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-question.html

Been reading all over the threads here on and I pulled the trigger on a set of these helix black housing lights. I currently have the xenon lights so I purchased a conversion kit from the OEM xenon ballasts to an aftermarket h7 hid bulb: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161599546965?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I will also be deactivating the headlight washer function.

Stay tuned for more pics and detailed installation for those who have questions about the oem xenon to helix conversion

Okay... I know this is an old post but I am unclear what options I have for my issue.

I currently have an R53 with factory xenon headlights. One of them was replaced due to some body work (drivers side) and looks great but the passenger side is looking old and foggy. To replace the pass side light with new is crazy expensive and I would actually rather have some of the newer looking lights that are out there. All of these lights say not for factory xenons. Is there a way to get some lights to replace? I don't care if they are xenon or not. I would ideally like to get something with angel eyes in them if at all possible. Any help would be awesome.

Any update on this? Looking to replace my old xenon headlights with something else. Is it possible?

I bought a set of tbe Helix/Depo lights. I'm going to upgrade to an aftermarket Morimoto H1 HID projector setup I just happen to have laying around from a previous car.

QUESTION: My car was equipped with factory halogen lights, I'm a bit confused on wiring the new projectors and ballasts. Is wiring / power already at my lights, or do I need to run the Morimoto wiring harness/relays to power them? Do I need a canbus harness to eliminate flickering?

Depo in Asia has had some issues since the COVID 19. Right now they are backed up on certain items. We are trying to get more but there has been some major delays.
We do have the chrome ones in stock which you could then Joey mod.

Spec D Tuning is another option:

Or spyder

You do not want hid for high beam, as hid bulbs have a warm up period before they get bright. It takes a minute or so to get there, not something you want when you need a lot of light.
Going through this thread. Is it okay to use LED conversion kits for high beams?

Yep, I also have LED in high beams.

If they don't seem to fit, then fiddle around with the 3 retaining hooks in the bulb holder. Halogen bulbs have a thinner "frame", the LED bulbs usually have a plastic frame for guiding the bulb in the holder, which is a bit thicker.

It will make sense once you try to fit the bulb
