too much in my opinion. Not bad though. Could those be mounted level instead the way you have them?

Thanks YBM! I was going for space shuttle but airplane works well for me

SFJ - yeah I know its kind of a lot but that lone tach looked too isolated to me. If you mean by "mounted level" that they would be evenly placed around the tach... yeah I tried that but fitment and visibility were big issues. Ultimately following the contour of the steering wheel provided the marriage between aesthetics and usability I was after.

and well, andy is, of course, "the man"

cdconsor,

If you can read all the faces, then your setup looks great. On mine, my boost gauge is partially obscured by the wheel (hence the rotated face).

I like cdconsor's.

I don't think it's "too busy" because all the gauges are circular, in keeping with the interior aesthetic, and a good color match. Nice consistentcy with the stock aesthetic.

yup, I can read 'em all.

for the curious (and sharp eyed) you might notice I started with the promini gauge cluster then made a new bracket to accept the new gauges. In addition, I bought 2 extra gauge cups from promini then I shaved down all 4 by about 3/16 of an inch and jogged the bracket back by 1/8. All this was necessary to a) prevent a permanent dent in the dash b) allow visibility for all gauges and c) make sure the turn signal and windshield washer controlls didnt rub when activated. Finally, I integrated the wiring and drilled a new hole in the plastic cover around the tach to hide the wiring.

all in all, it was kinda fun.

cheers!

BTW...can somebody PLEASE help me with finding fittings to get my oil/water temp gauges hooked up? I need the "T" section for the radiator hose and Summit temp sensor...also sensor mount adapter for the oil pressure...anyone???

I've got the gauges but can't finish the job without these fittings

Ugh, I knew I should have busted out the camera while I was making it....

I dont have a water temp but the oil temp sensor should come with the gauge. If you lost it then summit will sell you a spare sensor for like 15 bucks. For oil pressure, promini didnt include some of the fittings so I went to OSH and rooted throught the plumbing section. The plumbing stuff is taper threaded so it mated well with their adaptor. You can probably get promini to sell you an adaptor but it wont be cheap because its probably custom made but it'll work.

good luck

I'm a little puzzled by the lack of response. I figured with so many Minis with gauge pods that someone would know something.

I have the oil pressure sender but am reluctant to tap into the filter housing until I hear more.

The water temp sensor requires a "T" type fitting that no one sells.

Both sensors were purchased from Summit Racing. I'm trying to replicate Andy's set up but I think he custom fabricated his fittings. Looks like the gauge project will have to sit on the shelf for a while

for the oil press, if you get the promini adaptor then you wont have to drill the housing. you unscrew the idiot light sensor, insert adaptor, then screw in the idiot light and the press sensor into the adaptor (assuming I remember this correctly).

beyond that I have no idea. one of the reasons I got their kit was because I wanted the hardware and the instructions. got most of the hardware and the instructions were maybe a tad misleading but hey, it worked.

That's funny...I called Promini as Andy had suggested and the guy told me they don't have such a thing for the oil sensor Oh well...thanks anyway...guess this was a dead end project

boost oil temp oil pres and air/fuel (I admit that a/f off of the narrow band sensor is pretty much just for show but it keeps my passengers entertained while in slow traffic)

promini definitely has an adaptor but they might not sell the adaptor individually. I kinda had to beg then pay through the nose to get the extra mounting cups

It's a line from an early Daiman Wayans movie/comedy/spoof called "I'm gonna getcha sucka" where he mourns the passing of a kid that "OG's." You have to see it to understand.

Anyhow, I saw a MINI over the weekend with 6, maybe 7 gages, in addition to the standard gages that come with the MINI. I think all it was missing was a heartrate monitor.

Personally, I wish there were multiple function gages with multiple readings on each gage to keep the car from looking confused and busy.

Very nice. This is similar to what I was planning on for my next gauges, except my plans involved cutting another Alta pod in half. We will see if/when I get around to it. I gotta see that thing in person so I can check out the visibility. When you gonna come by my work? I work tomorrow (err... today technically... Wednesday), Thursday, and Friday from about 5-10. just ask for Jason

I purchased the air/fuel off of ebay actually... I bought it new for about $10 less that you can buy it at summitracing.

See my how-to for install instructions:
