booty wipe

after reading about the new design of 05 GT Mustang, I decided to do the booty wipe or Hafid's de-badging as its known. The article confirmed my thoughts of the MINIs great design by stating (and I paraphrase) "we don't have the label 'Mustang' all over the car, because what else would it be?"

same holds true for the MINI..it cannot be mistaken for any other car so why does it need the label? People ask me about the car all the time anyway...

there is no mistaking for it any other car...hence the booty wipe:smile:

Why not take off the MINI emblem too while you're at it for a complete booty wipe?

Start with the dealership license plate frame. Then work your way towards the MINI badge.

i got nice plain black plate frames and also removed the cooper s from the rear... would be curious to see how it looks without the mini badge as well, but i'm a little hesitant to do it myself. i think it centers nicely.

Your Booty wipe looks good but I second the statement that the dealer license frame has to go. Greta sports both the Mini & S emblems on her hinny but not the JCW badge. We want to keep some mystery when we blow someone's doors off.

NICE

becarfull with the mini badge, it has 2 pins that stick threw the boot so when you take the badge off you will have 2 holes in your boot. it looks better with it there anyway.

Just did mine a couple weeks ago (rear Cooper/S badge). Then I did a compound and wax job, since it needed it anyway.

I been wanting to completely de-badge since I placed the order back in December 02. Just so you know the front and rear MIMI emblems are pinned as well as taped. I believe the pins are only for alignment, regardles there will be 2 holes if you remove. That's why they're still still on my ride. I don't have the dexterity nor the inclination to sand/bondo/re-spray.

I'll take some pix when I get the chance. For those that want the PureSilver POV.

thanks for the tip(s)

I did not know about the pins Thanks for the heads up! That's why it's best not to be rash and take it slow and easy at my age.

...and I concur with the plate frame...anybody know where I can get a tasteful frame? or just shuffle down to AutoZone?

New Boot!

Heres my boot...new Cooper location  Thinking I may remove the Mini...the new location realy makes the boot look wider....I'm thinking the Mini gone to would do even more.

More badges please....

I do agree that MINIs don't really need any badging....and these de-badged MINIs look awesome....but I'll be keeping mine. Personally....being a big fan of classic Minis...I love having the Cooper name on my car. The name...and Mini heritage in general...mean a lot to me. In fact I've gone so far as to create a 40th anniversary magnetic badge (...used when the mood strikes) that sits right under my Cooper badge. Looks like it came right off an MC40 (...only a bit smaller).

Anyway that's my take on it...nothing against de-badging, though.

Not that we need anymore confirmation, but It just so happens that my Cooper S is sans MINI emblems.. there are 2 holes on either side for the pins and they are indeed double stick taped on.. in case you are wondering, it looks terrible.. and was not through any action of my own.. some person was nice enough to remove them for me while I was ctaching a movie and having a good time.. but hey, they took more care than any theif I have ever seen (with the exception of the guy who popped my lock on my Ford escort like 10 years ago and gently removed my AC Delco stereo).. only a slight scratch that would be covered by the badge..
