Interior/Exterior Automatic Windows
Automatic Windows
The maunul for my 04 MCS says the drivers side window will go up with a quick filck of the switch just as it goes down. Mine does not. I know you can buy something to make them do this but according to the manual, it should already do it.
There are a number of detail errors in the manuals if you search hard; there is bound to be a "all specifications subject to change" clause in there!
As mentioned, USA vehicles do not have one-click-up on the drivers window. Many other countries have one-click-up on the driver side, but not the passenger side.

auto-up windows- against the law in the U.S.
in our letigious, sue em all, culture, this feature is against FMVSS ( fed motor vehicle safety standards) rules. i used to work for a company that made window switches here in the U.S. and we got in trouble for a switch that would stick in the up position even. Seems there was fear that gerbs ( children) and guys in Hummers were not smart enough to pull their heads inside the car before hitting the auto up switch.
I just installed an auto up switch in my '02 Cooper- works great and the install was easy.
I purchased it in a group buy with SCMM - let me know if you are interested I can pass along the information on how to get one.
It was $40 btw

TRY this: special circut. Works like a charm off your toggle switch:

Though the inventor of the aftermarket Auto-Up Circuit has posted to this thread, I know he is much too modest and courteous to "plug" his own product...that's where I can help!
I bought Ian's circuit with both the Auto-Up and the 9-volt flying lead for a attaching a user-supplied garage door opener. It took me less than a hour to install (I took off the down-tubes and toggle panel) and the result is, well...simply brilliant! Two quick upward presses of the window toggle are all that is needed to shut-out the rain when pulling away from the toll both. But the next best part is arriving home and opening the garage door with a momentary downward press of the door lock toggle.
Cheers to Ian for making MINI Motoring even more enjoyable!

Amen to that,
It took me 45 mins from opening package, to having my 12v garage door opener and windows module connected, tested, mounted, and configured. A well-documented kit, easy to install, and fantastic.
Makes the Mini perfect in my eyes.

PS> Did not remove the downtubes and installed the connector by feel.

BTW, are you the same sck_nogas on the Kyocera 7135 board?
MINI626,
Please follow the earlier link to learn more about the circuit ...
http://www.gbmini.net/MINIcircuit/index.shtml
There is contact info on that page. Currently there is stock of circuits, along with a very few toggles (not needed for the circuit, but may be wanted to finish the cosmetic look of the panel).
The garage door opener link uses the existing door lock/unlock toggle - hold it up or down for more than half a second to trigger an output which is connected to your existing garage door opener. Depending on the opener you own, some soldering might be required.

I got really, really lucky at this years MiniOnTop and won the Windows Up module during the door raffle event. Although my package didn't include the garage door opener I am not complaining. The install, without removing the down tubes and doing the connection by feel, took about 10 minutes, if that. It sure is a treat not having to hang onto that toggle swtich anymore.
na, but if you cut their filthy little fingers off cause they bought your baby off of you, then maybe.
even if so, you can simply take it out if it's an aftermarket mod like the circuit. if it's a factory thing, you are not responsible for their failure to do their research.

Lot15,
If you sell your MINI you should either:
1. remove the circuit
or
2. Configure it to be disabled on both windows - then it is if it is not there.
The MINI circuit comes with documentation (repeated on the web) encouraging the owner to be very sensible - and that should include when the car is sold!

You've read my mind...just about to post the same response!
BTW, I have a "dossier" of my MINI's key information which I will pass on to it's next owner. I have included the instructions for activating/deactivating the circuit within the materials. If Koopah is sold, I will deactivate the circuit, and so note that in the dossier, remove my garage door opener, and point out the activation instructions to the new owner.
I can't believe what a litigious society we are in the US! How did I ever get to my age without suffering all the "hazards" that have been discovered by our country's legal system? This coming from someone whose better half is a Paralegal!
Sic transit gloria mundi...

As others have mentioned, there is technology to sense the presence of something in the way, much like the auto closing doors on minivans....and an even simpler solution, eliminate the rocker style switches that faciliate these accidents....in favor of the types that you have to physically pull up to close the window. Ya wonder sometimes why automakers are so brain dead in this regard (US, as European automakers have been leading the way here
I installed my circuit from Ian and it is cool. Took me longer to solder a shunt across the switch of the opener than to install the thing in my car.
I love the auto-up. I've even found that I can almost just pulse the pressue on teh switch to get it to work instead of having to return the switch to the center position then flip it again. I guess the break point of the switch must be at the extreme of its travel.
