Guess what came in the mail today? My new boost gauge! Who's been getting the updates about the new nGauges? Kellen let me order a boost gauge only instead of the standard two gauges. It runs through the OBDII connector.

I will post install pics, impressions, and review here. Watch for live updates!

Edit: skip to my post 2\5\14 for full review and final pics!

Close up of the gauge face. Looks OEM?

Looks like my car may have had a gauge with the first owner. Someone scratched the dash. I noticed it when I bought the car, but didn't realize until just now how easy it would be to do. Take your time near visible trim!

Missing screws... definitely had a gauge before. Good thing Craven gives you new screws.

I got my set a couple days ago. I'm waiting for a nice day to install mine. I have a mount for the boost & water temp, and additional mounts for my Scangauge II on the top left and my Garmin on the top right.

The rest of the install was undeserving of photos. It was stupid level easy. Now for a test drive! Will post when I get back!

Initial impression is very high quality materials and craftsmanship.

The gauge does an initial sweep and looks relatively OEM.

Kellen needs to offer a dark gauge face to match the JCW gauges.

Does not auto turn on during unlock sequence, only when you hit ignition. That's when the OBDII gets the signal.

I believe one of his updates said he is working on that.

Initial impressions -

Sweep - It does a start up sweep. In case you need to know, sweeps from 30 in HG (vacuum) through the boost range and past it to point at your feet for a moment.

Appearance - Could fool someone into thinking it's OEM. The light is slightly more red than most of the car's gauges lights which are distinctly orange. It's not quite the same color but is very close. If you look in my photos, compare the orange indicator sweeper on the OEM odometer to the red indicator sweeper on the nGauge. It doesn't look out of place. The hub of the indicator sweeper appears hand painted (instead of covered w/ opaque plastic) and when lit up, there is some show through. Overall it looks very good.

Quality - Top Notch. Besides from the tiny bit of light show through on the central hub of the indicator sweeper (which I think is super minor for a first run), nothing but praise. Everything that could be metal IS metal. I'd venture to say it's better than OEM in some regards.

Edited - waiting to hear back from Adam. Small issue - probably I did something wrong and will edit again when Adam tells me how to fix.

When you guys get yours, give us your impressions too!

Thanks Ian!

We will figure out why your boost numbers seem a little high. Are you comparing them to another gauge or device?

I am expecting the sample JCW faces to come in soon, maybe today. I will post here and we will also update those of you on the email list.

Peak boost is showing 20+. If I use a bluetooth OBDII and Torque for android it reports peak boost of 11.5 PSI. When I googled IN HG -> PSI conversion it appears spot on if boost is being reported in IN HG units. But the gauges says PSI for the boost side, so I'm a little confused.

That is high! I know it should be reading PSI, but I don't know why yours is reading at 20. Luckily, I am not the guy here who should know how to fix it, and those guys are on the case.

As hopefully everyone here already knows about us...your issue will be resolved! We make sure everyone who gets one of our products, whether from us or one of our vendors, is completely happy with their purchase.

I have full confidence you'll take care of me. I honestly thought maybe I was doing something wrong. =( Sorry to post the thread before I checked everything out, but I was too excited! Still excited! =D

That was fast. Craven is sending me out a new gauge to make sure all is well. Great customer service! Besides from that I'm really happy with how the gauge looks and I highly recommend it based on the quality of the product and the customer service.

I'll update that all is well when I get the replacement and I'll put up a video of it working properly so you all can be jealous! Haha

So what's the problem with pushing 20 pounds of boost. That would rock!

j/k

For a few seconds, anyway.

I installed the Ngauge boost and temperature gauge. The gauges are very quick and easy to install and look great. I too noticed the hand painted silver hub that lets a little light through. You have to really be looking to notice it and it doesn't bother me. Boost on mine seems accurate with max boost about 15 PSI.

They are always on and lit when the car is operating. This makes sense since they are running off of the obd computer. Craven has done a great job with these gauges and may upgrade to more gauges in the future.

I will post a picture later.

Glad to hear you are pleased!

We got some samples of the JCW style dark faces in, I will show you a comparison photo soon. Not quite right yet, but we should be able to get it nailed down soon.

Looks like we have it close, but not quite close enough. We should have it nailed down with the next set and then we'll be ready to offer a more accurately styled nGauge for the JCW. Probably 2 more weeks to get some good one's produced.
