You would need to get an ODBII splitter cable and put a switch in to only power one device at a time. You cannot run both simultaneously.

Does this really work? I am interested if so.

Yea, I have always heard the same but that picture shows that the SC and the Boost gauge are both active.

Correctamundo! No switch required. I installed a splitter I bought off Amazon. It's just one more gauge, just like multiple nGauges.

That's not 100% true. I am not the expert at the office, but this is my understanding;

The nGauge are all daisy chained to basically work as one. The Boost gauge, in most cases, is set as the master and is doing all the communicating with the ECU. That way, we can chain the 4 gauges and not have it slow up much.

When you hook up the SG at the same time they are both sending queries to the ecu and choking it up a bit. The only consequence seems to be a slower reaction time for both. I am not sure if there could be other potential issues with running both at the same time; I do know they will both be a little slower, but still useful.

The readings I'm using the scangauge for do not require an instantaneous reading. They are just for monitoring things like volts and intake air temp. The boost gauge follows the throttle and tach pretty closely and water temp doesn't need a second by second update. As soon as I get the nGauge oil pressure and volt units I will be selling my Scangauge II and my Cravenspeed mount.

All makes complete sense, I just wanted to make sure to dispel any myths that I can about how nGauge works.

If I remember my basic electronics.. . . . as far as what effects the response time or "speed" of the displays is the "loop" resistance or total impedance of the circuit. IMO the added response time caused by an additional gauge would be negligible for our purposes. Now, if they used incandescent backlighting vs LEDs that would be a different story.
That's my last swipe at a deceased equine.
Now, any educated guess, or WAG at when y'all will release the oil pressure gauge. Inquiring minds, or at least one, wants to know?

I installed the black bezel gauges in my 2013 R56 JCW today and they definitely match better than those with the silver bezels!

Now, if I can figure out a good way to also use my Kiwi Wifi with the nGauges it would be a great setup.

Love the gauges and the amazing customer support Cravenspeed provides! Does anyone else notice the motor noises coming from the gauges? Not sure its normal or not.. Its a ticking noise from the motor inside the gauge stepping back and forth.

Thanks

Got my order resolved and black bezel version being shipped - hopeful for install this weekend, but then I get an email today saying "chrome bezels coming soon"...

Arrghhh... guess I should have waited a little longer, unless I can add the chrome bezel later (hopeful!) or exchange...what to do?

Kellen, do I hold off install and swap these later, or go ahead and install and we can work something out later?

I think you will like the black bezels. Not sure the chrome would be too much chrome. I am sure Kellen will work something out if we want to ultimately go that route.

We are getting samples from a local vendor of our bezels in chrome. If they turn out well, then I might have something next month. If not, who knows how long it could take?

I am alright with you installing them and we'll figure out what to do later.

Update:

-Still waiting on chrome samples, but I am told they should be ready this week.

-R53 functionality is not cooperating, but R56 Oil PSI is coming along quicker than expected. Looks like we will have that before we can get the R53 to work.
