Was really interested in this until I saw the price tag. I don't care if the guage did cartwheels and put on a song and dance at startup I will never pay 600 dollars for a gauge. .02

That's what I was just thinking. A simple boost gauge should never be more than $150.

For just the boost nGauge its $299.00 with all the hardware needed to install…I think thats a fair price since I don't have to pay someone to install it for me...

Tapping a boost line is super easy on any turbo car. Only about an hour labor for just about any car. The only part I get is that it matches. That is definitely important but $300 for a cable? That makes no sense at all considering the hardware to install a traditional boost gauge is probably only about $10 in fittings and hoses.

It's WAY easier for me to resell my ngauge boost gauge when my car eventually dies (or I want a cleaner look again) because all I have to do is unplug it. That's one reason I found the premium price totally worth it. But by all means, if you feel your money is better spent on a gauge with a more involved install, do so. The $$$ comments don't add anything to this discussion, so let's drop the 'Waaaaah. It's too expensive. Boo-hoo.' angle.

In case I offended, my apologies, but nobody wants to know about that either so if you want to discuss further, send me a PM. =)

Back to actual discussion?

I hope the accuracy can be verified. I like the guages but if they are in accurate kinda pointless.

How will the oil pressure be sent to the gauge - wirelessly ? How hard is the sender install?

Both good questions that I do not have good answers for just yet. We would like to send it wirelessly, and unless the install will have to be much easier than it would be with standard gauges to be worth it.

Any update on the JCW gauges with chrome bezel? I'm ready to pull the trigger, but really want the chrome to match the rest of my interior.

Definitely something I'm considering if I keep missing the chrono pack I had on my first R52.

You'll be happy with it. So happy I have this when I see pics of other people's boost gauges that look out of place.

Chrome is coming! They are not ready yet, but the company we found to chrome the bezels has them already and we are just waiting for them to finish up the first batch.

Oil Temp faces are in...but the programming is not done yet.

Work is also happening on Oil PSI, but that will take a much longer time than the other two projects above.

Just a heads up, we actually have no bezels at all for the moment. We ran out of both silver and black this week. I expect that we will have more ready on Monday or at least early next week, so we are still taking orders but they are not shipping out next day like all of our other parts!

I am also leaning towards the chrome for my JCW. Kellen continues to push the innovation envelope at Cravenspeed!

What Garmin unit is that? I am looking for a mount that will fit my Garmin Nüvi 2597. Any suggestions?

It's a 2497. I didn't want to go with the 5" model. I used a Cravenspeed mount. Works like a champ.

Here's a quick pic of my setup. It's an Auto Meter mechanical gauge along with my Aquamist controller. The boost gauge and the gauge pod ran me around $120. Now obviously my mechanical gauge involved more labor on the installation side but that's okay. I think it looks great and it didn't soak my wallet much.

That's cool, I think we are talking about apples and oranges here though. Besides the simple install, nGauge is ground-up designed for your MINI. The gauge face matches down to the font and the shape of the needle; I don't think it can even be argued that the autometer looks factory installed. Further, we are talking about a pair of matching gauges with nGauge, and the mechanical boost gauge you are evaluating against it is the least expensive form of gauge. Anything else is going to require electrical senders and is sometimes twice the cost, especially AFR.

I think what you have installed there, looks fine, it's cheap, it works and that's cool. I am just not sure why it would be included in the same conversation that we are having here. It is not just the crazy difference in the install time, but I would argue that everything about nGauge is a step better than what you are comparing it to, and more on par with the quality that suits your MINI.

Now, I'll ask again. Can you please post up pictures of the JCW gauges installed?

Please!

I agree with Kellen. nGauge is a quality product and perfect match for my '13 R56 JCW. I have a FlexPod with Auto Meter gauges in my '07 FJ and wish I would have had an nGauge option back then.

On extended travel but will when I get back. I have the black bezels and might switch to the chrome when Kellen gets them in. I did not like the silver.
