ScanGauge E vs ScanGauge II

There are a lot of posts about the individual ScanGauges on here but no one has really said what one they like better or which one is the best. (unless my searches have missed something)
I'm leaning more toward the ScanGauge II because it has so many more features then the ScanGauge E, however the fuel economy features on the E also make it very tempting.
Its not a matter of if, more a question of which one...
Anyone have any input on these products?
Maybe WMW could offer some suggestions?

Get the Scangauge II and make sure the mini software is loaded before you purchase.

Yes the ScangaugeII is 10x more popular than the E. The ScangaugeII does have a few fuel mileage functions, but it also displays 4 gauges at a time rather than just 2 like the E. The 2 also gives you the ability to add new features as they come avail. or for updates.

If you buy a used one or one that hasn't been programmed for Mini, they will update it for you at no charge. It'll just cost you the postage to ship it to them.

Is there a thread that details what the 'MINI software' enables?

no need, what i posted is all that is on the extra sheet, no other instructions at all

if you have a unit with the mini customization, these extra gauges show up as you scroll thru the available gauges

EOT?! That's worth sending it in for an update. I had know idea there was an OEM sensor for oil temp. I wonder if that's just for the newer cars. Guess I'll contact scangauge. Thanks for the info.

FWIW, EOT = The same as Coolant Temp

FRP = Zero on mine. Does not work.

But having the Oil Temp along with Coolant Temp = Very much worth it..

(I also keep Volts up, and Instant MPG)..

Along with the Craven Speed mount, its a nice setup.

Hi Eric. Long time...

Did you contact SC? I'm under the impression that those updates referenced above are not for our first gen MINI's, and its protocol. If I'm mistaken, please let me know as I wouldn't mind oil temperature. I already have it via an Autometer gauge though...

That just means it has the capability of displaying oil temp IF the data is provided (like in 2nd gen). Unfortunately there is no oil temp sender in the 1st gen so no joy unless you fit an aftermarket oil temp sender.

Sent from my Moto X using NAMotoring

Gen 1 Factory Gauge Package

My Gen 1 has the gauge package (where the large speedometer normally is). It has oil temperature, oil pressure and water temperature along with the fuel gauge.

So the Oil Temperature sender part has to be available for the Gen 1s.

the gauge package makes up the oil temperature from the coolant temperature, there is no separate sensor...........
