Scangauge Question

I have a quick Scangauge question that I was hoping a MINI veteran might answer. The car is a Gen 1 Cabriolet (2006) and the Scangauge Setup Routine asks for the fuel tank capacity. The manual says that the capacity is 13.2 gallons followed by 2.1 gallons reserve. Is the reserve part of the 13 gallons noted earlier or is it in addition? The reason I ask is that on the second fillup you adjust the Scangauge reading to match the fill and in my case the number was quite off (~14%), even after being careful about the level of the car, the shutoff, etc.

TIA

Jon

It is normal to have it that far off, that is why you "calibrate" it by telling it how much fuel it used, it will become more accurate in its calculation by knowing the percent off it is. BTW, I believe it is 13.2 gal total, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I have my SG setup to the 13.2, it was off by a decent chunk the first few refills, ever since it's been within .1 of a gallon, and that's usually just because it's a rounded off interpretation of the .000 decimal that the pump is providing.

The key really is remembering to hit the whole fillup sequence every time instead of just tapping the trip reset button.

The way your question was asked I'm not sure if I answered everything you asked, but hopefully I've got you headed in the right direction.

The 13.2 gal. is the total capacity. The 2.1 gallon point is just where the warning indications begin.

From page 66 (2006 online owners manual)
If the LED begins to be lit continuously,
there are approx. 2.1 gallons/8 liters of fuel
left in the tank.
Fuel tank capacity:
Approx. 13.2 gallons/50 liters.

Also...
Page 99
Fuel tank volume
Approx. 13.2 gallons/50 liters, of which
approx. 2.1 gallons/8 liters are reserve
capacity.

Another Scangauge question

Is the cover for the OBDII supposed to be able to close after plugging the Scangauge in, or does it come off easy? My cover is just hanging there and I am afraid I am going to kick it off.

I have a zip tie on the door to hold it open all of the way, out of the way. I have not had a problem with it this way for about 3 years.
