My DIY R56 Rear Seat Delete

I got bored one day and decided to remove the rear seats and figured I could probably build a seat delete kit for cheap... so I did.

Here are some low quality phone pics but I'll get some more shots when it warms up a bit.

Materials/Cost List:
24 x 48 x 3/4 Birch Plywood - $14
2x Hinges - $8
Handle/Pull thingy - $6
Carpet - $8 (actually was $17 but I bought way to much. Only ended up using half)
Screws/Washers/Nuts - $10
Bolt - $5
Conduits - $4

Total: $55 + a few hours of work/planning.

I think it turned out better than I thought it would. My goal was to build it in a way that I could reinstall the seats and no one would ever knw they were yanked out.

Good job! Is there a storage compartment under that cover? I notice it has a pull ring for lifting it up.

The GP2's have some limited storage space under their deleted rear seat area.

Affirm. There's some storage space under there but I need to figure out how I'm going to section them off for a first aid kit, tire repair kit, cold weather stuff, etc...

I appreciate the kind words!

Hahaha Negative. That nook is about 5-6 inches deep and slopes so I doubt anything bigger than 10x6 would fit.

To this day, I still marvel at the fact my 1988 VW Cabriolet had enough trunk space to accommodate a compact spare and my 2013 "justa" does not.

Do you have the measurements for cutting and or trimming board? Was just about to undergo the design myself but your's looks great. Also what is the total weight difference? not sure if you were looking for the weight reduction just kinda wondering. Looks great!!!

Mini rear seat delete

This might sound crazy but would you be willing to sell your rear seat delete if you still have it. If not can you send me more info on the build for the RSD that would be great. Thanks
Phil
