JCW front lip / spoiler with air flaps things?

I just installed a JCW front lip and have a question about the small air flap things which are used with the original S lip.
Are you (those who installed the JCW) reinstalling the air flaps?

What do they do? Divert air?

Any real need for them? The front end looks better without them :-)

I left mine off. It does look better without them.

They're there to help direct the airflow so it doesn't go in the wheel well and cause drag. No idea how much more drag you have without them, but I'm probably going to leave them off next time one breaks. I've already replaced both of them on different occasions of me being stupid. I feel like they're more trouble than they're worth.

The official MINI term for them is pressure lip seal. It's the flap that hangs down in front of the front wheels.

Got it, thanks. I like it on my JCW. It's like an early warning before your spoiler rubs.

does my dealer not know much? i asked them if they sold and could install the JCW front lip on my r60s and they said the bumper needs to be changed, i told them that people have had it done but he kept saying i dont think so. at the same time he said i can just buy the whole jcw aero kit, which makes you think they want the extra money since buying the aero kit or just the front lip does not change anything regarding the bumper.

I had my dealer install the JCW lip. No need for a whole new bumper.

Did you buy the lip from them? And how much for the installation? I think the guy I spoke to diis not that knowledgeable. Kept saying I need a new bumper.

Does anybody have a good picture of a Countryman S with the JCW front lip? I am thinking about getting one for my car and was curious how it will look with the regular side skirts. I am not crazy about the JCW side skirts and rear bumper, so I think I would stick to just the front lip.

the lip looks fine without having the side skirts. the front mudflaps fit without having the sideskirts which helps finish the side.

there's a few threads around with install tips. it really adds some roar to the front end and only takes a couple hours to install. well worth it imho.
