Changing fog light wedge 194 bulb and got an error

I just replaced the 194 wedge bulbs in my fogs lights and got an error, my friend that has a couple BMW's said I would get an error if there cheap bulbs. Is that true? Has anyone else got the exclamation when changing the 194 bulb in their fog lights?

Are you sure they are 194s? That does not sound right for a fog light.

I thought they were H8s.

FOD - Military term for Foriegn Object Debris. Not good for jet engines or your turbo.

The bulb Check is looking for resistance on the circuit. A bulb with less draw, like LED can trip it. If they are LED you need to add a resistor.

Truth, a LED setup without a load (resistor) inline will trip it.

Just get/install a load equalizer in parallel with the lighting circuit.

Or run one of these that has it built in.
