So, yeah, after waiting a month, my Moss Mini Chrome Side Vents came in! Finally! They look pretty good... my only concern is how long they'll last, the plastic seems pretty chinsey, especially for a $70 set of vents. Oh well. Just letting ya'll know in case you're in the market.

Wow. Aftermarket part quality not being my area of most comprehensive knowledge, I just assumed when I saw these for $70 that they were at least constructed of real metal. I'm glad I wasn't tempted to order these.

By the way, thanks for that rear fog light pictorial walkthrough, owner-of-Sprog.

I guess Sprog won't be getting any discounts on future purchases...
Thanks for the info. I figure if it doesn't make it faster or it doesn't make
it handle better...I don't want it. Love the tailight post though. That makes
it safer which counts just as much!

modman - I agree with ya. I could have removed mine, sanded, prepped and primered them, then run downthe street to get 'em chromed. Oh well. They don't LOOK bad, I just hate chrome-on-plastic.

I just wanted to step in here about these chrome side vents from Moss. Let me assure you all that electroplating is a very coplex job and is a dying talent that will most likely not be around much longer. Chroming platsic is not easy to do - no, you cannot just paint plastic and get a "chrome" effect like electroplating. You will tell the difference. Also, most electro platers will not chomre plastic for items that are on the outside of an automobile - as the elements and chemicals from your car wash liquids will actually pull the gloss right out of your new chrome. Check before you pay, etc.

The Moss ones are very nice. I have seen a few from other people who have tried to have this (chroming the plastic vents) done through another chromer and let me say that for what they paid (close to $100 alone for the chroming) - I think the Moss ones looked mush nicer.

I suspect that sooner or later, there will be companies who will release new side vents in different shapes and sizes. I cannot wait to see what kind of aluminum ones will be released. I have seen a few prototypes from around the world and it all looks promising. I myself have done a set of my own side vents - as I was inspired from a set I saw in Germany not too long ago. You can nsee a picture of them here.

Anyway, the Moss ones as of now are the hottest things since the car came to be in March of 2001 - we have quite a few to be delivered shortly. I guess it is safe to say that you can never have too much chrome

In this same forum (int/ext mods), the topic is called "rear lights...", and I will be following its instructions this weekend.

Yup, there's tons of different ways to do it, I only shot 2. The soldering idea is good, go check that thread out.

After waiting for months for my backordered chrome side vents, I am sorry to say they were disappointing...
The 'chroming' was not even and the interior part (where the holes are) of the vent was a goldish color!
I immediately called Moss and they were willing to take them back - but I get to eat the shipping cost both ways.

I checked off 'low quality' for the return reason part on their form...

They would have looked nice if the chroming was even... but for $70 I expected a bit better quality.

I had recived the glovebox organizer from them a while ago and I was impressed with the quality of that item though! I greatly enhanced the amount of usable space in the glovebox.

I received the chrome side vents I ordered from RSpeed this morning. I have to admit they look good, chroming is even, smooth and of a good quality.

I also have to give RSpeed high marks on their products, shipping and service. I've ordered twice from them and have received excellent service both times. The side markers were not in stock, and I received a call the day after I placed the (online) order informing me they would be back ordered and did I want to let the order stand.

Again, hats off to RSpeed!!

Has anyone noticed that the chrome vents don't quite fit in as well as the originals? They didn't snap in with the same pop and they seem to come out with much less pressure. Would a little filing help?

Installed chrome vents and clear markers from RSpeed. Well written instructions. Fit is pretty good although not as tight as the OEM ones. Don't think they will fall out. On my solid IB car they do really look nice. Thanks to Peter and Joseph at RSpeed. Their customer service is first rate!

You are sooooo lucky I ordered mine on the 8th of Aug. and just got mine on the 6th of Nov. So much for 4-6 weeks  I like my grills but I wish Moss' site was a bit more clear as to what would be on backorder before you order instead of after.
Well enough of my bitching
