so i'm sure this was asked before at some point, but i'm going to ask again...
i just purchased some zaino wax and i was wondering if it's safe to wax over the bonnet stripes. i hope so, as it'll look a bit funny if my car has a beautiful mirror finish and the stripes are dull!
thanks
christina.

Yes you can and should use zaino on your stripes. That is one thing I look for in a wax, what it looks like on my stripes. I recently tried Klasse, and I like it. It was easier to get my stripes looking good that zain. Meguires nxt is next on my list.

Are you planning on using the Clay bar for your first wash? I recommend it.

Also would love to see pix of you freshly waxed stripes.

does a clay bar make that much of a difference? i don't have one, but if you think it's really worth it i'll look into it.

i'll be happy to post pictures as soon as i can, however who knows when i'll actually get around to waxing as it's snowing now! eeeewwwwww!

Yes it does make a difference. It is not really very difficult to use either.

Just follow the directions to a "T". I scratched my car with the clay bar.

Try AURI, I've been shining cars for over 45 years and it's the best stuff I've found. The website is http://www.auri.com

claybar will make a world of a difference...smooth as glass finish so that your
wax will glide on/off very smoothly. but if you drop the claybar on the ground,
don't reuse it unless you are absolutely sure you got all the dirt off. otherwise,
it will scratch the paint. I think that claybar is basically a clay-eraser a lot of
drafters used before computer aided drawing softwares...

Try some Mother's claybar kit. It comes with a super slippery detailer spray
and it works great with the claybar.

My bonnet stripes look almost like they have had some acid rain problems. Kind of like the white roof after a rainstorm, and the dirtyness doesn't come out with any amount of washing. I wish I had a picture to post, but I don't. I hope someone has some insight as to what I can do?

BTW, I have clearbra installed over the front portion of the stripes, and that part is fine.

Klasse followed by a coat of Blitz will really make it sparkle.

As for the clay bar….once you use it you will never go back! They are very easy to use and you will be surprised at how smooth the surface will be. Also every 6-months or so….clay bar your windshield and the rest of the glass.

Try this test. Wax a small area as normal, then put you hand in a plastic bag and run it across the surface. Now clay bar and wax and try the plastic bag test again.

why don't you just try waxing it? the wax and buffing will remove a thin layer of the bonnet stripe (ive only done the factory one, not sure about aftermarket stripes). You have to buff it real good (elbow grease) if you
use natural wax, as i found out.

I use NXT on my bonnet stripes all the time.

what i don't recommend are any abrasive wax or compounds. claybar sounds good too.

Wouldn't the claybar start ripping up the vinyl, though? I'm going to try the waxing, and see what happens...

no, it will remove a thin layer but won't rip it. it's like a clay eraser and you use detailer spray so very slick.
