Gold, White or Black wheels on a Laser Blue MCS

I can't decide what color so I'm asking for suggestions. I'm also asking for wheel suggestions as well! I would prefer BBS's but alas, I am not made of money so I suppose no more than $300 per wheel. I don't want cheap wheels that will snap either. I really like the way BBS's look. I have an 07 MCS in Laser Blue with a white roof and mirrors. If I get white or black wheels, I really want pink lug nuts. So ultimately, help me decide!

Laser Blue is a special color that really works with almost any wheel color. I would say be brave and try Gold, not many out there with it. There are so many great wheels to put on there. Checkout Tirerack which is a good way to gauge what is out there. A few months back, I bought a set of R112 reps from A-Spec (they sell black and silver) for $500 and I threw new Hankooks to see how well the wheels would hold up. I've gone through countless potholes, I drive in NYC all the time and these wheels really have been even better than I expected. No bends, leaks, or cracks. I've literally pushed their limits. They are about the same weight as a set of OEM wheels I have. Great finish, and seriously worth every penny. My buddy with a '12 Coupe just put a set of gloss black on his and it looks and drives awesome.

Since you like the BBS look you might be interested in the ESM 004 model.

Rota has sub par quality.

Look at SSR,Volk or BBS for mid range priced high quality wheel.

I have a set of SSR type C 17x7.5 42 offset that weigh 14.2 lbs and are powder coated black for sale.

BBS are midrange price? Since when? Last time I checked BBS wheels, while well made and beautiful, were expensive as heck!

BBS wheels for the mini are in the mid range price scale, high end stuff like dynamag and hre are in the thousands per wheel.

100-499 per wheel low price range
500-999 per wheel mid price range
1000+ per wheel high price range

I have a laser blue car, even tho i like black wheels i think they are a little played out, ideally im looking for gunmetal wheels, but lately bronze may be growing on me, also anthracite is a cool color

Ah so it's a scale thing, I start considering wheels in the high price range when they get to $800 per wheel.

100-499 per wheel low price range
500-799 per wheel mid price range
800-1200 per wheel high price range
1201+ per wheel "what the hell are you doing with these on a Mini?" price range

How's the white with brake dust? Did you upgrade your pads?

Another vote for white wheel sbut then I am biased.

My 2006 R56 MCS is Laser Blue and came with white crown spokes, white roof and white mirrors and white bonnet stripes.

I replaced the wheels with OZ Ultraleggera in white and I would not have it any other way.

Stock pads are rubbish for brake dust. Even with polishing, sealant and wax on the wheels you have to keep on top of them but the car looks great when clean.

Also a white BC Corona Viper Aerial is also a good mod and blends in with the roof better.

I agree that Rotas are of subpar quality. I know several people who have had them snap on them and they don't even track their cars. I autocross and drive hard. I'll pass.

However, after this week's adventure at MINIs on the Dragon, I saw MINIs with all sorts of wheels and I have decided that I 100% love the way the white wheels look. Either that or gunmetal. And after this adventure, I've learned that it's not that hard to keep white wheels clean. Everyone has said upgrade the brake pads (I just got Hawk HPS's 1 day before I left for the Dragon). And then Prima showed me a product called Hydro Wax that you spray on clean wheels once a month or so and that makes cleaning super easy.

C'mon........Let's be clear here. You don't know several people who have had Rotas snap on them. You know OF several people's pics being passed around the internet for shock value, and a foggy, at best, back story filled with hearsay about the wheels just randomly snapping while driving down the street at 35. That's the real story. I know way too many people with 350+ WHP cars, who drift, and roadrace on Rotas, and never a snapped wheel. If you do personally know several people whose wheels have just randomly snapped while driving down the road, I am gonna cry BS on that.

I do personally know 2 people that had this happen. One was a Miata and the other was a Cooper S. Besides, I don't want what everyone else has. I've never liked Rotas anyway.

It happens! But thanks for not jumping down my throat I appreciate that (probably more than you realize!) I'd prefer a slightly better quality wheel, especially since I do autocross as well. I just get a little paranoid if I know folks have had bad experiences when they don't drive as hard as me.

It's cool. YW! The wheels you want, that won't break the bank, and are light as hell for auto-x, are some Enkei RPF-1's. I personally can't stand the wheels myself, and think they're 100% played out, they look ok in white, and they'll meet your needs exceptionally well.

You must have seen RPF-1's for cheap somewhere. If so, please give me the link. On tirerack.com, those puppies are like $250 a piece. Noooooo thank you. I want a wee cheaper. On a side note, my friend's got stolen off his Subaru a few months ago. I was thinking about a set of Team Dynamics though. I know they're really lightweight (16 pounds if I remember correct?) and not too ridiculously expensive (I believe $750 for the set).

lol I guess our definitions of cheap are slightly different! $250/wheel, is pretty cheap in my book. I've got a set of wheels sitting in my garage right now that were like $4k brand new! lol I hate thieves! The TD's aren't bad. The styling is meh, IMO, just factor in about $250 or so for the powder coating, and you're at the same price for a set of RPF-1's!

I guess I should've mentioned that I just graduated college so I don't have tons of money lol. Although wheels for $4k is pretty intense. However, why would you powder coat wheels that are already white?
