Any experience with brush on plasti dip?

So I blacked out my beltline with electrical tape, and like the way it looks. But I want something more permanent and was thinking to paint it, but I don't want to tape off the whole car, and I heard removing the trims are a pain. So why not brush it on? At least that's what i'm thinking. Has anyone tried or experimented with this? I figure it's another cheap alternative to consider. I've already got some plasti dip on the way to me, it's in a can, non aerosol style, and will give it a shot this weekend. But I wanted to see if anyone has already tried this, or any experience with the brush on stuff. Tips and suggestions are appreciated.

Just buy the <$20 vinyl kit and be done with it. Brushing plastidip sounds like a pain for such detail work as a beltline.

The biggest problem is that your going to be brushing a vertical surface. Brushing Plasti-Dip goes on extremely thin. If you put on to much you get drips. It may work if you put on about 10 - 15 coats. Tapping the car is pretty easy if you use some plastic like the disposable paint tarps. Make sure to really shake or mix the Plasti-Dip good. Let us know how it goes.

Your better off just buying that, it's only 13 dollars and it'll save you a LOT of hassle

Isn't the outmotoring kit basically just pre-cut electrical tape?

I have no clue actually, haha. I just found it as an option.

If anyone has the link to the vinyl kit (if the Outmotoring brand isn't vinyl), that would be awesome!

It is legit vinyl. It has backing you remove and apply it. Once applied you pull the clear covering strip off too. It is the perfect width, won't soften like electrical take, leaves no residue like electrical tape, doesn't stretch like electrical tape....all around better than electrical tape.

I tried E-tape and halfway through 1 door I knew it was a mistake, plus it gets hot here in SW FL and it began to soften and droop.

the softening and drooping is what I am worried about with my e tape jom. I'm in so cal, and its around mid 70's now, so its all good. But with summer coming up, I know it's basically going to melt right off. Anyway, I have my plasti dip and brushes ready to go. So I'll give it a try this weekend, and let you all know how it turns out. Are there other alternatives to the outmotoring kit? I've read mixed reviews on it sticking up at the edges.

Got my belt line tape from VinylStyles and have had it on more than a year with no issues. It is NOT electrical tape.

alrighty...so I tried painting on the plasti dip....don't bother. lol it looks like crap, and really isn't easy to put on. I only did one small piece of the beltline, and there is no way in hell i'd be patient enough to try and do the entire thing. Now I just have to wait for it to dry so I can try and peel it off. I've already got a call into vinyl styles for their kit. Can anyone tell me how to add one of their items to their shopping cart? I cannot find where to add it so I can do the order online.

Just call Lyle. That's what I've done with everything I've bought from him. He's a good guy.
