Interior/Exterior Armrest question..
Armrest question..
I am sure this was talked about before, but yet I can not find information.
I am looking for an armrest for my 2012 MC. On ebay and other sites there is an OEM armrest part number 52-16-0-429-935, however, I visited www.minipartsmass.com and there is a diagram of armrest and it does not look like anything like 52-16-0-429-935.
The one on eBay gets attached to floor and on www.minipartsmass.com it gets attached to cup holder.
Has anyone got armrest that attaches to cup holder? What is the part number? Thank you.

This one:

...is the factory installed armrest. It's annoying, as it is a slide top that doesn't stay secure if you lean on it and move too much, and it compromises your rear cup holder.
52-16-0-429-935 is the "Euro" armrest and is far superior in my opinion--it has a flip top and, as you mention, mounts differently. I had it in my first MCS and loved it. I currently have the OEM one in my current MCS and can't stand it.

The two arms are between the seats and the center console, so you can't really see them. The "feet" attach using the bolts that hold the seats to the floor, so if you slide your seats all the way forward you can see where it would attach.
Looking at pictures I thought it would be bouncy and flimsy but it's actually quite sturdy.

That is the correct number for it as well.

Try to go on minspeed.net but didnt get lucky there.
This armest looks nice - how much was it?
Is there a way to have the top part in a different color? My interior is orange/red from the orange/red lounge option and it would look very nice matching the seats and all

It doesn't come in other colors but redlinegoods.com does custom covers. They made mine to match my blackjack door pull covers and their work is outstanding.

Cool Sig man. One of my favorite RATM songs off my favorite RATM album.

here is one for $129 but i have no idea how it would work it looks to me like it would be a big problem to get to the emergency brake handle. and how it mounts is a big mystery as well.

The downward angle is the only issue I've heard about.
Many thanks!
That's exactly what I needed to know. I thought it was an install issue. The armrest is great now that I saw the advice. It is so much better than even the new 2012 version of the standard MCS version! Thanks again! Gscot

I'd be delighted to switch it out for the cup-holder mounted one that my R53 had. Anyone want to trade?
I'm purchasing one of these from this Mini dealer:

I have this in my R55 and the e-brake access drives me batty. It's utterly in the way. :-( if I could flip it all the way out of the way of my elbow I would be satisfied, but its maximum lift is limited. :-( its comfy for driving but horrible for parking -- or e-brake slides

I could swear I recently saw a post here on NAM about a mod to the euro armrest so that it would flip back all the way. If you search and can't find it I can check my computer at home - it seems like something I bookmarked because I don't like that it doesn't flip all the way either.

I removed the armrest by taking out the rear seat bolts and sliding it out. There are 2 allen bolts holding the hinge together. Taking it apart reveals a plastic cap with a "T" of plastic in it, carefully remove it with a knife and re-assemble. VOILA! The armrest will swing out of the way over 90 degrees AND stay out of the way. The metal stop that is welded onto the hinge will make a small indent in the plastic cover but that friciton holds the arm up out of the way.
Although the context isn't clear if he's describing the euro armrest or a third-party, it sounds like this might do the trick. Guess I'll try taking apart my arm rest this weekend
You just prompted me to try some new search terms (as I had been searching!). I just found this:

(I hope I didn't sound like I was accusing you of not searching for a solution - that wasn't my intent at all!)
Assuming I can find the time to do it at all, yes, I'll definitely take pics and post notes! And no worries on the search thing; you just brought something I'd been chewing on back to the front and sparked some new search terms which worked better. I had been searching on things like "armrest mod". What finally hit gold was "armrest hinge"!
