I had this done as one of my first mods.

- Open the Hatch
- Locate the three black plastic caps
- The two outer ones cover the nuts that thread onto the studs from the S spoiler
- Once you get the nuts off, the S spoiler is also held in place with a foam tape adhesive.

I paid a bodyshop $60 to remove my old spoiler and install the aero spoiler. Then sold my S Spoiler here on NAM to someone that had a COOPER with no spoiler.

----------------------------------------------
For those who are wondering about the differences between the MINI spoilers, here is a review of all the MINI spoilers. The Aerokit spoiler is totally different than either the Cooper or Cooper S spoiler (see below)

The Cooper with no spoiler

Use a heat gun and monofiliment fish liine to remove the old spoiler. Its a real pain but it will come off with no markings if you are carefull. I did it last week to install the M7 wing.

Maxmini,

Could you elaborate on the installation of the M-wing? Does it use the same holes or no. Does it need new holes drilled? Does it need caps to cover old holes?

Thanks much,
Sid

The M7 wing uses different mounting hole locations.

I believe Peter said he supplied a set of plugs for the old holes.

DiD...so this wing requires drilling new holes into the hatch?

hmmmmm.....have to think about that very carefully. I wonder why Peter didn't use the original holes like JCW does?

See how in the picture above the M7 M-wing has it's supports at about 1/3 span. The S-spoiler mount holes are only a couple inches in from the outer edges of the hatch.

You can actually see the plug'd / dimpled area in this picture where the original mounting holes are located.

Yes, thanks. But I still don't understand about not mounting in the original holes like JCW wing.
