Interior/Exterior M7... m-wing
M7... m-wing
Here we go again........
The m-wing, a hatch mounted dual wing with carbon fiber end plates. mini specific hardware, mounting templates
and instructions. The wing can be adjusted up to 30 degrees for different tracks etc.
I personaly raced with the wing on the car hitting over 120mph with no problems. Weight is 5.5lbs with all the
hardware. Expected in 2 weeks will be a Carbon Fiber version of our wing.
Price: m-wing $ 295.00 available right now.
To purchase call M7: 562-712-3270

Wow, I really dislike that quite a bit. My general take on "wings" aside, this one doesn't seem to echo anything on the car at all. It looks like you could have yanked it off of any garden-variety ricemobile, devised some "MINI-specific hardware," and went straight to production.

I like it, it grew on me when I saw it in person. It reminds me of the touring mini with the M3 engine. I think it would look awesome in all CF
You can say rice...as you see peters mcs fade into the distance.

Peter - while I'm sure this aerodynamic device has the potential to help keep the rear end stable at high speed (read: over 100MPH) especially with high-speed corners, it doesn't seem to match the design language of the MINI. This aesthetic matching, however, is just my opinion...

ok i'll throw a nickel in the fountain, maybe learn something in the process... How do we "measure" downward force (aka increased 'grip'?) that's presumably increased with a wing? If the wing takes let's say 5% of the work away from the suspension, is that a good thing? Am I even asking the right questions?
It just seems like it'd be a subjective thing... I wonder if those who like the look are more apt to notice better performance after installing?
In other threads, I've seen a hierarchical list of modifications, in "most bang for the buck" order... What I guess I'm wondering is this: If we have sticky tires, modified suspension, (real performance "wins" for autoX racers) and the like, how much additional benefit will the wing add?? Is there a tacit admission of "just for show" here?
Curious and of course still grateful for all of the free pre-purchase wisdom,
Tatt

Here's a compilation of cars from everywhere but Japan, how strange that all these (mostly factory teams)
are using wings even those conservative Swedes.
And where people worry about performance they use them,.....Rice.... is not even in there vocabulary but performance is. The wing is tested and it works very well indeed.
I will have Images with the whole car in view ASAP.

The only difference is all those cars are on a race track as opposed to on the street. The wing might be functional, but if it's used on the street, it's rice IMHO. You'll sell tons of them though (mostly to ricers, with the occasional track junky thrown in), so definately a worthwhile product.
It looks nice, but is out of place on the MINI. I think something like what Orciari did with the wing is a far better solution than your average dual element wing that everyone has on their car. Something like extending the Aero kit wing back a bit and give it some more rake would've been a far better solution, if you ask me.
People will buy it though, and who cares if you don't like it.

Some of you guys aren't getting it. This piece of equipment isn't meant to enhance the Mini's appearance. It's a WING for down force. It's for THE TRACK. Look at any wing device and I defy you to find any of it's forms to be in harmony with the vehicle it is mounted to.
For those who would prefer form over function, the Mini already has a well thought out apendage...it's call a SPOILER
Peter, I would like to see a version like the Mini prototype with DTM like side plates mounted against the rear glass frame. AND, a front end splitter

Peter, how do you know "it works"? Is that a subjective feeling or supported by repeatable data?
Did develop this wing to fill an aesthetic or performance requirement? I'm guessing more aesthetic given the clever design of the endplates with the subtle "7" theme.
Does it provide any downforce? Is there a drag penalty? Why two elements?
How did you determine the location and size of the wing? Any windtunnel time?

I don't think it looks good at all, becasue it doesn't fit with the overall lines of the car. It has sharp angles, while the Minis are very rounded and smoothed. And the aluminum doesn't match anything else on the car.
I'm sure there is some car it would work well with, but it's just not the Mini.

Haha, most of the older people here only see the MINI as a cute car to pick their kids up from school and go to the grocery store in. It just confuses them that the car might be used in track applications
