Gen 2 Bkack LED Rear Tail Lights
Some bad news for all you 2011, 12 Mini owners...
The wiring has changed for us so OutMortoring (who has been nothing but helpful) needs to update the wiring for their Black tail lights...
I have a Gen2 MCS 2011, and when I installed the tail lights found out that not only do you have to tweak the OEM bulbs, but you would have to rewire the harness. While I know for some of you this won't be a problem, for $250 I want them right the first time.
Erin from OutMortoring said that he would update the website and see what the manufacturer can do, Thanks Erin

COP and co., the light warning is being caused by the higher resistance/lower amp draw of the LEDs versus the std lamps. My 92 Grand Prix STE has the same system, what it does is run a tiny amount of current through the system at start-up or bulb-check and if sees what it is looking for, no issue, if it sees very low or no current flow, it triggers the alert. The fix is to wire a medium ohmage wire-wound or heavy carbon resistor in parallel with the lamp, to fool the lamp ECM into believeing everything is fine. This is very common, the same issue with LED turn signals that blink like mad, the current draw doesnt match the turn signal flasher load rating.

@sob4691 I have pics in this thread still I believe on Pg 4 one with them off and one with them on w/ reverse light on as well. I dont have a pic with the entire set yet. still waiting to do that as it's been raining here and haven't had a chance to clean it. Boo! Hopefully that helps!
@Clubman S Turbo That's good info! On Prowl I do get that error light but it goes away after startup. I don't think I have anything to worry about. Just gets annoying that the warning light goes on due to that low wattage.

How would I get instructions for the electronically challenged to do this?

I really like the look of these but with a '12 MCS, I'll wait to pull the trigger...

Just got a pair. Disappointed in that one of mine also cracked like other posts in this thread, so no magic changes to shipping.
Question: should've been a plug'n'play with the bulb (need to add a reverse bulb in the top slot), but it's not. The bulb in my 2010 R56 Cooper hatchback has the pins directly opposite, but the holder for the bulb on the new black LED taillights are offset just a little...like 10'oclock and 2'oclock. any help?
