I wound up going with 3.5" rolled double-wall slanted tips on mine to give it that OEM+ look. Inspired by some other posters on hear, the tips are rotated a bit to follow the curve of the bumper cutout. I'm really pleased with the results- looks far better than stock and doesn't scream "I've modded my exhaust!"

Has anyone who has changed the exhaust tips had the TPM ( tire pressure monitoring ) system malfunction after it was done? My TPM system stopped working and the dealer tried to say it was caused by welding the exhaust tips on. I completely removed the exhaust system to weld the tips on, so I said it wasn't possible that I did anything, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had this issue. They've had my car for 4 days now and still haven't figured out what the issue is, but they said if they have to call Mini for a Field Service Engineer, they will probably come out and look at it and say it's from the exhaust modification and say that it shouldn't be covered under warranty. I only had it for a week before this happened!

Find a new dealer lol

That's terrible. What's next, swapping rims will cause oil leaks?

Seriously, that's as bad as my dealer...

What a load of crap. They're lying to you, plain and simple. Typical.

It gives the good dealers out there a very bad name.

have you checked your tires? i had a screw in my tire on my old honda and it was showing TPM, sometimes it would disappear and come back on but after removing the screw it stopped.

The next closest dealer to me is 250 miles away. I'm kind of stuck. I checked all of the tires, they are good. The system keeps trying to reset itself and then says there is a malfunction and says to contact the nearest Mini service center. The dealer has already replaced the antenna for the system, and all of the sensors in the wheels. They still can't get it to reset.

There's no way that adding tips to your exhaust had anything to do with your TPM failures. The dealer is making excuses because the warranty work is costing them $$$. Bunch of crap, pull the BS card on them if they try to blame that again.

I'd love to hear what their explanation is on how the two are related.

Make sure you let them know that you understand two very important words:

"Magnuson" and "Moss"

That should stop this BS dead in its tracks.

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to mention that if they try to hassle me about it anymore.

Digging up an old thread...but thanks for the info!!!

This was an easy mod. The shop didn't have any generic tips,
so I ordered Vibrant 4" #1207 tips from Summit Racing. 20 mins in and out!

Also, earlier in the thread, there was some discussion about whether the larger tips made the exhaust louder.
I made a before and after vid.
I think in Sport mode, it amplifies the "pops and gurgles" just a little bit.

If the dealer (who I'm very familiar with) had checked, on driver side rear corner is TPMS antenna which when you had exhaust down, it didn't get reconnected. Easily done - found out when helping a bud adding rear JCW spoiler to his Countryman. PM me & I'll get you copy of install directions. Btw I did the JCW tips.

I actually had this question in another thread.

The JCW rear kit instructions call for bumper removal, and then cutting plastic and rerouting the TPMS antenna. However i would like to use other tips instead of the JCW ones that come with the kit.

If I just get the old tips cut off on the car while still attached and get new ones welded on, am I to assume there should be no danger to this antenna, nor any reason to relocate it for the rear aero kit?

There should be no issues w/TPMS if you go that route.

no problems with TPMS when i replaced my exhaust with a downpipe back milltek system ... it was bolt on, no welding

i have adjusted the exhasts to be even since this photo was taken, the system "moved around" quite a bit during the first couple hundred miles and needed to be retightened several timer, but has been stable since then

I emailed DiMisa and they said the 3.5" would work, but they can't tell if the 4" will.

Trying to decide between the two based on the pics here. Thanks for all the pics!

4" works just as well, i have it. I think it looks more filled out compared to 3.5. cant go wrong with either of them though when you look at the stock set up.

Thanks for the pics. Where is the inlet on that exhaust, and do you have any sound clips?

it is a DP back system, replaces everything from the DP back, has no second cat and no resonator and is 63.5mm (2.5") from the DP all the way back to the 100mm tips

it uses all of the stock mounting points with no modification

i do not have a sound clip but will say the sound is lower in pitch, a little louder than stock at steady speed, quite a bit louder at WOT, but not "ricey" or "get a ticket" loud

NO DRONE at any rpm or throttle setting

no rubbing on the chassis

with the sport button on, the pop/burble is much more pronounced

the power comes on about 1000 rpm lower than with the stock exhaust, i am assuming the turbo is spooling quicker

connection to DP and first mounting point in front of flex joint

here you can just see the flex joint and the next mounting point

left rear mounting point, right is the same

muffler showing the inlet and outlets ... with the tips off you can see thru the muffler
