Here's a photo of mine. Went to the local muffler shop and bought 4" tips then sent them to Sanderson Headers in South San Francisco to be flat black ceramic coated. Got them back a week later and then had them installed along with a Magnaflow muffler.

Hey ayk07,
Can't remember the the model # offhand but per the Magnaflow website it is either muffler # 12265, 12266 or 12267. Hope that helps.

Just thought I'd share some pics of my exhaust tips. They are 4in generic stainless steel tips that the exhaust shop had. They're slant cut but rotated until the followed the shape of the bumper.

I finally got mine from James @ MotoringWerks installed. Very nice tips and I'm delighted with the outcome!

Installed at a local exhaust place @ $50/tip. I could have gone to a cheaper place, but they're hours are limited and I wanted to get them done!! They had been sitting in the boot riding around with me for the last month and a half!

Before & After attached

I'm very interested to hear how the Magnaflow muffler sounds. Any chance you or anyone with a similar muffler can post a vid of the sound?

Can I ask what shop you're going to in the SF area? I'm looking for a good shop for the same job, and live in the north bay.

Hey fillupmycup,
I was looking at those same tips but when I went to my local muffler shop and they put Chaos up on the lift I came to realize that the 8" length might need to be modified to fit. There is a bend in the stock exhaust tubing right at the 8" mark on both sides.
Also those tips are powder coated and over time the heat from the exhaust will cause the powder coating to flake off. My suggestion is to go to your local shop and look at the tips they have in stock or can order.
The tips cost me $40 but the real expense was the ceramic coating. I was told it would be $50 but when the header shop called me to pay it was $90. But the coating will last the life of the exhaust probably longer and I think matches the trim better.

As for loading a sound byte of mine I am going to work on that this week and hopefully get something posted.

fillupmycup: I went to a local muffler shop, Johnny Franklin's here in Santa Rosa. Any muffler shop should be able to help you with tips. As for the ceramic coating I sent them to Sanderson Headers in South San Francisco (they have a web site) but if there is a closer one or the muffler shop knows one look into them.

Good luck.

Just went to local muffler shop.
Picked one from their selection.
Usually goto benchmadeproper for all my exhaust work but this time tried this small shop and love the setup.
While i was there, i took resonator&2nd cat out also.
Love the sound!

Couldn't resist. I got my tips installed today. I went to Lou's Custom Exhaust in Brockton- paid $150 for installation including the tips. They have a few selections to choose from. These are 4" slanted stainless steel tips and it took the guys about 45mins.

Oh man, Lou's- a great shop in that area. If I still lived in NE that would be my default for sure.

Tips look great!

For those who've tackled this already, do you think these tips from eBay would work? Or would I run into trouble with the 8.5" overall length?

Hate to have to bump my own post, but I'm really hoping to get confirmation on whether or not an 8.5" overall length would be too much. Love those tips on eBay, but don't want to get stuck with them sticking too far out the back.

Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

This is a very odd thread to post the front of a car in, but welcome (?).
