hood scoop mesh removal

I was just wondering and i hope i am wording this right,
would it be worth it to take out the little plastic piece in the hood scoop to allow more air flow threw? just wondering.

IMHO, opening up the scoop will allow the CAI access to cooler air,but more importantly it will allow more hot air out when stopped..... this can help with scoop warping.

I didn't like the look with the mesh removed so I dremeled out the holes of the mesh.

When I had my Alta CAI I saw absolutely no increase of power with it open (on the autobahn where it should have mattered) It did, however, let all kinds of crap onto the engine.

I opened all of my holes up and it helps the heat escape when parked. I would venture to say the scoop will warp a little slower now that the heat can leave.

07s had holes. As I have an 07 and it does have holes. Take it out and put wire mesh it will be all good.

Or you could add a DDM Works race intake and really force the air in. Mine is great on my 07 MCS. Like adding a half of a sport button. Expensive, but worth it to me. My filter is no worse (dirty) than having the stock set up.

I open mine up and it seem to help the K&N typhoon with more air. You do get alot more garbage from the outside (like sand &water).

well i do agree with Mini2na bout how it looks without the meshgrill inside it.
I do like the alta intake though, but since my exhusat is so loud now its slightly hard to hear the turbo at times :( i might just do what Mini2na did and dremel the holes out of it.

MINIFini makes a scoop insert in Stainless Steel. They had some Powder Coated Black one at one time, but don't see those on their site right now but if you were to call I am sure they would make you one.
