Seatbelt Buckle Pinch - My Cure

I know everyone has probably dealt with the problem of the seatbelt buckle getting pinched between the door and the seat, which is a real PITA. I tried the seatbelt hooks that attach to the headrest posts, that was a failure. I finally concluded the problem was mostly that the seatbelt button is mounted too low on the belt to keep it out of the way of the gap between the door and the seat. So here was my personal cure of the problem, and thought I'd share...

1st Picture: Get yourself some seatbelt buttons from JC Whitney for $5.50. Here's the direct link:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webbing-sea...29&zmap=12135G

2nd Picture: Install the buttons 6 inches above the OEM button ( you could go less than 6 inches, but I chose 6 inches to have the buckle have slight contact to prevent swaying and rattle)

3rd and 4th Pictures: Shows the belt retracted, with the buckle in a more reachable location, and not down next to the seat.

There's no OEM slide on the belt above the stock button to keep the buckle up higher? Must be something they removed since the 07 model.

ACK! Brilliant, and it looks exceptional.
I keep having the same problems with my Clubman and the leather seats.

No, no slider. Got em in the back, but not the fronts. I've read where others talk about the sliders, but I guess they dropped em at some point. But if they were anything like the sliders I have in the back, there's not enough pressure to keep em where you put em all the time. But with the buttons, no issues.

I ran around with one of those metal belt tensioner buckles (like you find with baby car seats) for awhile holding the buckle end up to this position, before I ordered the buttons. That way I made absolute sure it was gonna work for what I wanted.

It's a home run for me, now the buckle is right over my shoulder rather than down by the seat. Might get a "twistie" in the belt between the seat and door if you're in a hurry, but no more pinching the buckle itself in there and screwing up trim and stuff.

I have a slide on my 07 and I use it. But this is a great idea.

Many thanks!

Works like a champ too, one of the cheapest but best things I've done. Have not had the buckle hang up one time between the door and seat since I've done this, nor does the buckle ever hit the door (and I don't consciously concern myself about the issue anymore either). Now and then the fabric of the belt will hang up just a tad bit, but that will never do damage. It's funny too, whenever I take my seat belt off and it's held up a little bit by the side of the seat... as soon as I open my door I hear the seat belt "zip" up a few inches putting the buckle right where I show in the picture.
