Diagnosis: exterior modding addict

Hey all.

Although these are fairly minor mods and probably pretty common, they're some of my first. Figured I'd throw them up for others to see. My list is long so I'm slowly checking it off.

Pulled front bumper plastic plate holder and was left with this...

I then drilled them out...

Added these...

close up...

I initially didn't think they had the right color for my mini. I was a little nervous about it matching but it's dead on. They seem to do a bunch of custom work, so I'd call with your color code and ask. I bet they'd get it done.

I had used them about 10 years ago on my 3 series BMW, so I knew the brand. I went searching and found they were the same for the Mini. They're expensive but seeing as I had a good previous experience I figured what the hell.

I just order some of the 2011 scuttles also but I have LED side repeaters so I don't need the cool bulbs for mine. I will talk to them to see if they can do my color. Also I am thinking of having the center console painted. That would be super sweet!

Where did you get the LED sidemarkers?

I had to buy another set because the clips on both side broke off when I installed my 2011 scuttles. I also broke one of the clips on my old scuttles when taking them off. The only thing I can figure is that they were cold and the plastic cracked. I just took one off yesterday to show my friend who just bought a MINI about a month ago.

Do they look better in person? The pictures on the site make them look kind of unfinished to me...

The $50 includes both, right?

I'm assuming the $50.00 is just for the LED and not the scuttle itself?

or you can save 49 dollars and just get a pair of W5W wedge LED bulbs and plug em in. They have ones with built in resistors too so theres no bulb out warning if you dont want to wire one yourself. I vinyl tint wrapped my scuttle markers and used the LED bulb inside, it blinks a bright white (slight blue tint) to it and works great.

My silver/amber flash are standard bulbs. I purchased them from coopersport.com. I've seen a few threads about the led bulbs. You can also get them off ebay for next to nothing. I guess the biggest issue is getting the correct ones so the bulb out light doesn't come on.

Nice upgrade! I just installed the black 2011 scuttles also, but need to get some chrome wedge bulbs like yours. There are some on ebay right now for $7 shipped.
