Building the LEGO MINI

Many of you may have seen our Clubman at MOTD in May, and I previously posted some pictures on a thread about real LEGOs, but I figured I would start a thread with some pictures showing the process/progress of our work. It has been a lot of fun and we continue to play with it as inspiration hits.

Haha!

Maybe someday you can stack Clubmans on top of each other.

Here are the latest updates to the LEGO MINI. Someone had mentioned we should add some colored "bricks" and we decided we needed a new front vanity plate.

My kids enjoyed seeing the pictures of it from MOTD. I think it looks even better with the colored "bricks"!

Agreed it looks better with the colored bricks. And I was parked right next to you for the car show. How could I compete with a LEGO brick car so I settled for second place.

Awesome looking car. Wish I had thought of that.

If it is any consolation, we loved your car and the name is perfect.

I guess that depends on what you mean. It isn't something we did for a specific MINI event or Halloween. We fully intend to keep the theme as long as we have the car. Unless, of course, something else strikes us down the road.

However, everything is removeable in the event we needed to sell the car at some point. The "bricks" on the sides are simply pin-stripe and colored vinyl. The "studs" are plumbing test caps that have been painted with automotive paint and attached to the car with double-sided automotive adhesive. That is pretty much it. I'm sure, especially with a red car, that there would be some fading if we someday remove it, but since we plan on keeping it this way, it won't be much of an issue.

I hope that relieves your trepidation....
