Driving Light Install Help (Hella 500)

Today I spent the day attempting to install my Hella 500 Driving Light Kit. Everything is wired up according to the (crap-tastic) wiring diagram provided, except that I bypassed the headlights. Yet, the lights don't turn on. The switch illuminates inside the car, yet the lights down come on. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Now, for some pictures:

Grounding point on the DS.

Butt connector connecting wire on the DS light to the wire from the relay.

Grounding point on the PS.

Relay mounting point, in the battery compartment.

Grounding point from the relay, the bolt on on the battery pan.

Power connected to the + of the battery.

Add a fuse to supply 12V power for the switch.

The yellow power wire is going to the switch and is in the middle position on the back of the switch. The other two wires are in the correct position, because when switched, we blew a fuse. I don't have a picture of the switch grounded, as it is above the knee bolster and didn't feel like taking it back off. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this one has me scratching my head.

Answer, bad ground on the lights. Instead of using the grounding points photographed above, I used the yellow bold directly below it and WALA! Lights turned on.

yep you beat me to it. The original blue wires are connected to one of the four headlight screws holding it in - that is not an acceptable ground since it doesn't go anywhere!

Nice! Here are my Hella 500's

BTW 'toolazyforalogin' ...That image shows the threaded socket portion (in gold) of the headlight bolt becoming disconnected from the housing around it... that has happened to one of my bolts on my pass. side headlight... any idea a fix to this? ...I cant get my passenger side headlight out now due to this, and I need access below for something...

Are those factory fog lights on your jcw? They look big.
I like what you did to your car

Its just a jcw front end, and the fogs are stock, i'm not sure what you mean by they look big. Unless you're talking about the hella 500 driving lights in the middle of the bottom grill, those are not stock, those are what this thread is about. But thanks for the compliments haha

Like the the part where the brake ducts are. Maybe im tripping out lol. Just seem like the lights shine bright and make the lights look bigger. I dont have the jcw so my fog lights on are quite small.

I don't have the JCW, I have a 2008 cooper S...
The fog lights are the lights on the bottom row closest to the ground, but on the outer side. The inner 2 lights are called "driving lights." These are bigger than the 2 outer lights called the fog lights. The driving lights are not the same driving lights you order from MINI. They are called Hella 500's. If you look at the name of this thread, it is called "Driving Light Install Help (Hella 500)". Hence the photos I attached of my hella 500 install.

hope this clears things up
