I was thinking about doing this because I want to hear the exhaust and S/C more from the interior. Is it alot louder than stock? Or is this just a bad idea because of more rattles possibly.

Not sure what insulation you're referring to, but...

My supercharger whine changed a lot when I switched to a foam air filter (I got the Alta filter). Much louder afterwards. I also have removed my back seats and built a flat floor, which made the exhaust louder inside the car. I have also heard that removing the foam insert/filter at the back bumper (the fresh air vent to the cabin) makes the exhaust louder in the car. Honestly, I think the effect of a loud exhaust inside the car will wear off after a couple months (mine has started to annoy me, but I also have the Alta Sportone exhaust which is louder than stock). I'd say it's best to keep all your insulation and maybe upgrade your exhaust if you want a better sound. Also, like you said, the road noise and rattles will be louder, and possibly more annoying than the good exhaust sound.

When you said foam insert at the back bumper are you reffering to the styrofoam whn you take off a bumper? That sounds like a good idea but doesn't that ruin the overall safety of the bumper?

Well said! I would say get a nice intake like THIS one and drive with your seats down in the back!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

haha, that's terrifying.

OK, open up the trunk and look down and towards you, like you are trying to find the zipper on your pants. There should be a little vent back there. This lets fresh air into the car and keeps your windows from exploding when you shut the doors. I'm almost positive there is some sort of foam insert in there that acts as a sound dampener. I think it's very easy to access as well.

So are my windows gonna explode if I do this?

I'm just about ready to do this right now but I'll wait till more replies if this is a bad idea

The vent keeps your windows from exploding because air in the car does not get trapped when you shut the door.

The foam insert is just a sound deadener. Your windows will definitely not explode.

Just got back from a little drive. The exhaust sound while giving it alot of/full throttle defitely seems to be louder inside. The backfiring is the same though.

I actually stuffed more sound absorbing material here because my exhaust was too loud on long drives and it helps quite a bit to reduce the drone.

I have a loud straight exhaust, and I actually blocked those vents completely with metal backed sound deadening stuff (Deamplifier Pro) and my windows never esploded...

I should have thought about that both ways. I'll have to try it out because mine is starting to get to me.

I suppose I could be mistaken or air is still able to move even though they are "blocked". I'm not sure, just repeating what I've heard.
