Removing "S" side grille?

I just bought black plastic paint and i want to remove the side grille on the front fenders and I cant get them off. I searched threads and saw directions but its not working. Supposedly theres a plastic pin you push on to pop it off but its not working. Im pushing on this black piece and all its doing is bending the metal that its held onto. It wont come off at all.Theres also a screw that looks like its holding it in too and I have no idea how to get that off either.

How did you guys take that piece off?!?! theres so many people here who blacked it out and I cant even get it off.

It is easier than it seems, once you get it off you will be like "oh.. that was easy."
There is a just a clip on the farther side, you dont need to undo any screws or anything.
Squeeze your hand in there so you have your fingers against the inside of it and push toward the back of the car, I think you push toward the back on both, but they might be opposite, I cant really remember.
You need to slide it towards the back because there is a clip on the deeper part that you cant reach, if you get what i mean.
So, push it towards the rear of the car and a little bit toward the outside, and it will pop right out.
Let me know if i can clarify a bit more haha.

Here is a pic of the "fender" to which it attatches

sorry, I can't make my phone "paste" tonight

you need to reach behind and push the front part out from the rubber gromet, then slide it forward. The metal will flex, perhaps even bend, but there are no plastic clips that will break. If the metal bends, just bend it back before you reinstall

thanks both of you guys. the main reason I stopped was because it was bending the metal piece that holds it and I didnt want to screw it up. Ill try tomorrow.

If all else fails Ill just take back the spray paint and buy plasti-dip and spray around it. Although It'd rather it be a shiny black instead of flat black.

I just did it last night, and had to look it up again. What I did was this:
If you open the bonet and look inside where the grill is, you can see the "pin" you need to push on(I pushed on this with a long bladed flathead). All this lets you do is get a flat head or something else to pry the grill off from the outside. You want to push on that pin, and pry out the grill starting at the front of the car. The only thing holding that back part of the grill on is a tab. But once you pop out the front pin, the grill slides toward the front of the car. Then just unplug the wiring harness and you're set. This process works for both sides. Good luck!

Nice!

I am going to paint my wheels too, but I am going to powder coat them.
I want to do them right. so I don't have to mess with them again.

Here's the pics. I used krylon fusion glossy black. Me and a friend taped taped over the S but we couldn't get it perfect so that's why you can still see a little chrome. The turn signals are also slightly tinted. I used this vht tint spray. Just a heads up the stuff runs like crazy and because of that I only used one coat. Oh well

What I did when I painted mine, is just painted over the S and then you can contact Lyle (lylesvinylstyles.com)
and get new S stickers to put over them, i got body color, but I am sure he could get you any color you want.

I had the same problem with my "S" I taped over them and peeled off the tape on the passenger side, but left the black on the drivers to see which I like better

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll eventually spray that area over and get the S in green.
