I finally did it.. AUDI style LED on my MINI foglight
hey all, i just got back from garage and put something UNIQUE on my car. My car never come with the foglight and this have 2 black plastic thing covering it. At first,i thot of buying the normal foglight. Then i think it will be different to use the LED eyebrow used by AUDI on my foglight.. so i asked my mechanic and we cna try to do it... Though it was not cheap but think its was worth it..
what ya think....

what ya think....

IMO the idea is sweet, but leave it to Audi to do the LED lighting. I think it would look better if it were more than 3 LEDs. Please don't take offense to what I just said, but it doesn't suit my tastes. I bet it looks better in person than with just a picture.
I think these are pretty cheap.. LED Halo's Not Audi LED style, more BMW Halo style.
Did you pay more than 40+ shipping for the setup? You made reference that it was not cheap.

I think he is talking about the fog lights and the link you posted was for the turn signals. I have those on my car but I disabled the LED ring because it looks UGLY when lit.
I did upgrade my factory fogs to 6000 k HID 35w fogs and they match the lights perfectly now. PIAA bulbs where as close as I could get to HID color without going Full HID.
I got them at the link below and I used the stock fog housings. No they are not melting the housing and are not very hot. In reality they are cooler (temp & looks) than my PIAA's where.
I orderd the slim digital ballasts kit for $99.00 with H11 bulbs Temp 6000K
They where very easy to install too. (Plug and play)
Product Cost: $99.87
Shipping Cost: $23.54
Total including shipping was: $123.41

What did he do exactly? Shorten the Audi part to 3 LED's? Do you have a web link for the part?

he used the black plastic as a backing and put the LED infront of it. the factory black plastic has latches that fit on the bumper so no drilling was done... adn then he wired it to the headlight
I'm still up in the air on it. All my external lights have been replaced with white LEDs minus my rear tail lights for legal issues. I have halo headlights and my driving lights have halos. I have since added LED strip lighting to my lower grill and it looks good. I am not running my front parking lights anymore as the strip lighting took the place of this. I'm just having a hard time getting good shots with the camera. It doesn't look bad at all. I'm still debating whether I want to go with the whole Audi thing. After all, they just copied BMW. And personally, the Audi headlights look like they just have rope lighting inside. Doesn't look as classy as BMW's halos. The OP did a good job, but it does look as if the LEDs could be longer.
This is what Im about to do to my Touareg....its OEM Audi S6 lighting. It retails for $350 or so. As soon as thats installed...im matching the K in the headlights....I love the Porsche and Audi lighting....

What if you put the entire strip of lights in the crack between the headlights and the driving lights, under the bonnet. I dunno... Might look weird, but if its hidden enough when off, and you can see enough of the lights, it might look good. Also, what do you think about drilling perfectly round holes in the black trim on the front lip? If you space the holes out perfectly it might look clean. Just thinking out loud.

in the below thread, you can see what my bumper looks like with the LEDs. I'll try to get pictures with it all lit up.
