Interior/Exterior Will Alta filter fit on Dinan Box?
The best way might be to check to see if they both use the same "universal" replacement filter model from K&N.....that way if the neck size on the filter matches, and the length is compatible...it would.
My bet is no...due to the fact there are thousands of possible combinations.
Do a quick search on this site...the Dinan K&N filter # is floating around....then measure yours...see if it matches up with the important diminsions on the K&N website....and see if it is a match.
NO PAIN, NO GAIN....time to do some work!!
The Dinian filter is actually pretty good by the looking at it...most likely a K&N copy.
The Dinian filter does have a crooked neck (rubber part) that connects to the intake to situate it correctly in the air-box (this also lets them fit a much larger filter in the air-box).....the K&N replacement lacks this...and as a result from what I have seen, it is a bit smaller....maybe it flows less, or will need to be cleaned more often.
Do you just want to use a foam filter?!
If you do, MinSpeed was the seller of an ITG foam filter for the Dinian intakes....Minspeed is now closed...and the part was a custom part for them....somebody bought their old stock.......and soon I believe one of our current vendors may start selling some items from Minspeed. In the meantime, I think you are out of luck!!

Now all you need to do is measure your Alta filter and see if it is the same, or at least similar enough to fit!
Good Luck!!

Hey, thanks for all the help! I just need to wait for my wife to get back with the "Dudley" so I can measure the filter.
Just for future reference for somebody else with the same question....what is the result?!

Just got a measurement from Alta (since my wife always has the Cooper) and according to them the diameter of the inlet is 2.75 inches.
Looks like the K&N filter will fit on the Dinan airbox. Being that that'll cost another $200+, I think I'm either going to saw off the Alta V2 connection piece (from the sheet metal box) and attach it to the OEM stock air box (after some cutting of the box) so it seals. This is a free mod (since I've already purchased the alta). If that doesn't get rid of the whistle, then I'll go Dinan/K&N. Does that makes sense?

The dininan is a lid that goes on the oem box....you also want to have the back pannel that is usually ripped out during Alta installs re-installed.....have you seen the dininan box yet? It is mostly an either/or propostion. The oem air intake tube is also reused on the dininan....it makes for a nice, insulated, cold air intake with a well defined intake path, and just a bit more noise than the JCW...perfect for longer drives.....
