Custom Paint jobs?

Has anyone had a custom paint job or had their MINI repainted?

are they worth it?
Last well?
How much does it cost for a decent paint job?

Someday I might be interested in painting mine.
I was just wondering if paint jobs were ever worth it or ever lasted and looked good.
go!

Paint jobs range in price from a few hundred dollars up to thousands. Depends on what you want, the type of paint, the color of the paint, any custom work...etc.
There are several members on here that have had their cars repainted. I local guy here did it. He has a dark silver, and went back with the same color, the same base/clear and the bill was around 3,600.
You get what you pay for I guess...but doing your homework can really pay off.
I want to repaint my car in a year or two. I even want to go back to Electric Blue, but instead of the base color of Electric Blue with a clear, I want to go to a base coat of silver (or even something else), with an Electric Blue candy clear. The last time I was in a paint shop they estimated it between 4,900 and 6,500, depending on paint make and how much prep I wanted to do. Hope this helps.

After a few "altercations" and one idiot encounter (vandalism) we decided to repaint our Mellow Yellow 07 MCS. Now it helps when you own a body shop, so I have a little advantage. I was never real happy with the MY, so we decided to do something a little different. This one is actually the kids car, so he picked the Honda (yea, yea, I know...) S2000 Indy pearl yellow. We added a bit extra gold pearl and white mica in the color and a bit more in the clear. It came out even better than I expected. And after being in the business for nearly 30 years, I don't impress easily. But glad I was this time.

We used DuPont's Chroma base and their clear coat.

And before anyone starts throwing darts about Maaco being comparable with Earl Shieb and the like, remember we're all individually owned. My shop is the busiest in VA and always in the top 10% of the chain. We do nice work and I'm a car guys, so good enough isn't good enough for me. I want my customers cars to look right. I think this MINI does. And after many highway miles the paint's holding up great!

The S2000 is probably the best Honda they ever came out with, for the money. No shame in that color!

Yeah, the maaco in leaders hieghts pa does exellent work too. they have done work on all the cars i have owned over the years. (miata 10th anniversary, evo8, 67'plymouth fury) They repainted some parts on my mini and did a exellent job and decent price. That yellow mini and the white one looks good I wish i could get my mini painted in the green the 50th anniversary cars have..

Both those cars look fantastic. I really like that color yellow better than the original. (Sorry to hear of the vandalism that sparked the new paint job).
I am glad to hear about Maaco doing such a good job with people.
We have always painted our own cars in the past, but with the new paints-especially the clear- being so toxic, my car is going to a pro when its time...

How much longer until you think you're going to need it? Is your Mini going to be a "lifer" ??
