Interior/Exterior 2010 Factory Aero Kit Question - Painted Arches?
2010 Factory Aero Kit Question - Painted Arches?
Hello All,
Newbie here. So I'm just about to order a Mini Cooper S Hardtop (dark grey) with the Factory Aero Kit. I've configured the car numerous times on the Mini website. When I add the Factory Aero kit, the photo shows painted arches and the cost of the kit as $1250.
However, the dealer says the kit is $1250 without the painted arches and that I'll have to pay an additional $400 if I want them painted!
Anyone know about this? I thought I heard they were included for 2010.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! - Joneser

The website (shamefully) hasn't been updated.. the arches have been painted from the factory for quite some time now, no additional charge. Your dealer is either terribly uninformed, or is trying to jack your stick.. either way, lame on their part. Here's my car with the kit...
Thanks for the quick reply. I've also questioned the dealership manager about this and am awaiting a reply. I've invested a lot of time with them, but will drive the additional 20 miles to the next dealership if I have to. Nothing worse than being taken advantage of as a new customer.
The factory aero kit comes with painted arches and the MINIUSA.COM configurator is accurate.
If you don't see painted arches, you may be looking at the JCW aero kit, which is different.
The dealer in question might be talking about a non-factory accessory aero kit that he would install (not the factory)... and he may then charge painting or installation costs. So I would recommend dealing with a more honest dealer.

One other thought...
The dealer may be trying to sell you a new car he has (or can get access to) that matches your configuration that he wouldn't need to order... This car may not have the aero kit though, which is why he might be referencing an "accessory" kit vs. the factory kit.
I've seen dealers trick customers like that in the past... it may be the better deal for them to move existing inventory than placing custom orders...

Thanks guys for all your help. The dealer has since backed off and said there was a misunderstanding on which kit I wanted. No extra charge after all. Gee, the spec sheet we both have copies of says clearly, "Factory Aero Kit", not JCW kit. You think they'd know this stuff better than I.

Nice Kevin.
Hmmm, there's just something about Jethro.
Must be my MINI's younger sibling.
I love your rims.
