foglight 2 to 1 bulb conversion

hey guys. i have an 09 JCW mini cooper. i am replacing the xenon headlamp bulb with a 6000k bulb. however, i want the top headlights color to match with foglights below. i dont mind buying a xenon conversion kit for the bottom foglights but theres 2 bulbs for each foglight

does anybody know where i can possibly purchase a set of aftermarket foglights for my mini that only has 1 bulb in the foglight as oppose to a daytime driving fog bulb and then the regular bulb below it?

The second bulb is your parking light... going to single will eliminate that. Beyond that, I am no help in your conversion effort.

i'm with you. the halogen next to xenon looks awful. i nearly wish i didn't have xenon so it didn't bug me...
check out the hoen bulbs. that's what i'm doing. learned about on a post i did...

i might get photos when i install. i actually got the bulbs for christmas so they may be in today!
i think for about 80$ it's the best deal to fix this.

wow, thanks for the thread jrcsh6, actually helped me out a lot.
im guessing it would be a pain as well trying to find places for the balasts to stay for xenon foglights so im thinking matching my headlight xenons with some hoen bulbs will be my best bet.

thanks again!

tried to do it over lunch and i couldn't get the old bulbs out. i'm not super good at that kinda thing but it was very hard...i think it's gonna require taking off the wheel... unless someone chimes in with a trick.

I have a friend who has a garage. He put it on a lift and was able to take out my foglights. However, to take out the daytime running fogs he would have to take off the tire otherwise it's too difficult

alrighty got the running lamp but still fumbling with the fogs.

with the wheel turned in
-the running lamp (top one) it's like a circular piece with flat parts on each side.
-grab it as well as you can and turn it anti clockwise. it takes a bit but it'll go about 90 degees.
-pull directly back...the washer will create a bit of tension but it'll come.
-then just swap the bulb. you can watch from the front of the light houseing to see you're lined up and all.
-just fiddle around until it's back where you pulled out and turn clockwise until it's locked.

pictures sucked because of lighting and my dirty hands i wasn't going to handle my camera with.

i'm going to try again on the fog bulbs tomorrow at lunch. at my parents...their garage is heated while mine is detached and COLD

just check out the photos in the other thread for an idea of everything. note the one where the fog lighs (while off) look blue...it's just the camera flash reflecting on the bulbs. those bulbs are blue but shouldn't really show unless well lit from the outside.

alrighty got the fogs in. after nearly giving up again i looked at the whole thing as close as i could (black dirt and salt on my forehead from tire...) realized i could pry open the side clips on each side where the bulb meets the wire outlet. once i got the outlet off the bulb base no biggie...just "turn counter clockwise" as the book says

the mini bulb changing instructions are AWFUL for the fog bulb. the marker is pretty right on. but the fog wasn't nearly as easy as the happy little cartoon implies

looks pretty good. the fogs match the xenon's pretty well. the markers have a more led look to them. like early led flashlights. all in all i think if the yellowish stock bulbs bother you this is a great fix!
