Any suggestions before purchase...

Hay guys. I am getting ready to buy a few things from outmotoring and I figured I would post here first and see if anyone had any suggestions before pulling the trigger.

I have a JCW with a standard grill and I want to black the surround so I was going to nab... just want to make sure as I read that I dont need anything special to swap those

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...rill_trim.html

New side markers... once again just making sure I dont need anything special to swap these...

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...r_housing.html

and a new antenna :D. (I hardly ever use the radio but reception criticism would be ok)

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...y-antenna.html

and some blackout tape...

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...tline-kit.html

I am going to see how this sits and see if I want to black out more... maybe go through AC or pick up some of Outmotorings blackout kit.

Any feedback or even different store/product suggestions would be appreciated as usual.

and just as a point of reference here is a pic of my car currently.

Before you spend $$ on the grill surrounds and side markers, consider the wonders of plasti-dip. Worked wonders for me, although I can understand wanting the JCW side markers as opposed to just the S markers painted black.

Really like the red stripes btw Good luck!

Agreed, not only is plasti dip great, but you can peel it off if you dont like it and it will be back to stock with no mess...you can also get a peak of what it will look like with the black JCW bits...

I must admit though, I tried plastidip on the side markers and it didn' work very well. Like I said though, it came right off.

PLastiDip PlastiDip PlastiDip. it works wonders on our car.s Look through my flickr account in my siganature. Everything is done in PlastiDip. I've decided though to go back over everything with gloss black instead. Right now just the gas cap is done in gloss.

One caveat: you might want to hang the gas cap so you can spray the entire thing with the can upright. On my first go I had it sitting on the ground and needed to turn the can upside down to hit the sides - ended up with pockmarked coating b/c of the propellant.

Also, do light coats and let dry completely between them. Happy painting!

wish i read that before i started doors .

I got the can this morning and just finished applying to my rings / Gas cap. I did it on my steps so i could get at the gas cap from the sides without going upside down. Hopefully it turns out ok.

I did do a second coat at the 30/min mark like the can says so hopefully i dont need to re-apply. Everything has a 2nd coat and I am waiting the 4 hrs now so we will see how it turns out.

forgot to update!

Finished with the Plasti dipping. I had to re-do everything the first time... (to thick of a first coat). You guys are not kidding with how awesome this stuff is though. I did the tail light rings, the headlight rings, the headlight tabs for the xenon's, and the Gas cap. All of it turned out awesome and I am by far the least handy person I know. I even had to take the headlight rings off a week later for a second coat and that turned out fine. (I didn't realize how much of the top edge you would be able to see with them on the car and you could see a little bleed through).

By far an awesome product and I would def recommend anyone also save some cash and do the same.

Thanks again everybody who recommends plasti-dip on these forums. I will get a pic up soon (got a new camera coming from Black Friday).

camera should be here on tue :D...

Seriously though Porthos. The can of Plastidip is 5$ at home depot. Just pick it up take off your gas cap (super easy) and give it a try. If you dont like it or cant get it up to your standards the stuff literally tears right off without a trace once its dry.

At one point when painting the little chrome tabs on the xenon headlights I kept messing them up sitting on a box so I just held them in my hand and plasti dip'ed my whole hand. It peeled write off once it was dry. If this **** didnt make me high smelling it I would think there would be bedroom applications here

I had the same decision process and listened to fellow NAM drivers and went with the Plasti-dip For the sidemarkers I did the AC vinyl decal. Also modified the badge on the back just to be different.

Belt Line tape. Just take your time and it goes on easily.
