Radar detector mount made and now displayed

This is one of my earlier mods. I don't like the window mount and add the dash mount to that list. I got into the clock and found that there was a decent stream of 12 vdc available. I soldered a short two conductor wire length and drilled a hole facing forward into the clock housing. I use a bell RD with the phone jack connector. I don't like it per se, but bought a short phone cord and matched it to power jack cord. The colors don't match, but when I see a black cord, I will redo it. The mount is black acrylic, and is mounted two places to the mirror mount. It isn't hard at all. Remove the mirror, drill a hole thru a screw mount already in the mirror, and mark a hole in the mount. The mount has tapped holes in it already. I made the mount for Bels, but don't think that mounts for other detector would be hard. The fit on the tongue of the mount that goes into the detector is a friction fit, and holds well. All in all, I am happy about the project, being that it was one of first, still happy with the "bat" look and functionality, thanks for looking.

I made this mount myself. It was a iPhone window mount. But then I took the connective piece to the iPhone case. Cut of the notches it uses to lock on with. Sand it and then super glued it to the Radar Detector Mount. Presto. Less than $10 bucks. And I can remove it easily.

I actually have it behind the rear view mirror now so the detector is right underneath the mirror and the mount itself is hidden. It's also hardwired now. Looks really clean.

Suction mount

I find that there is a benefit to both mine and the suction mount. Mine looks more intergrated into the car. Yes you can remove it, hide it, but still a thief might guess about the missing unit and where it is. The suction mount leaves no trace, but maybe a suction ring. I have read that since the introduction of so many GPS units, thieve even look for the suction ring mark as an indication of what my be hidden in the car. Like everything else, what you like may be what you are most comfortable with.
