My car had it done on one side by mistake at the body shop years ago. I never noticed until much later and didn't care to go back. I've come to love the R50 side skirt.

I'm thinking about going the other way - R53 skirts on my R50. How much of an ordeal is it to remove/install them? I'm assuming it's all clips, can they be re-used?

Here is and old photo that shows the side skirt a bit better.

My steels used to be shiny. They don't put clear coats on steel wheels though.

Not hard at all, you will need new clips and new door sills as they are nearly impossible to remove without bending them.

ha! i never knew there was a difference in R50 sideskirts....but I still like my R53 better...but at least i know there are clientel out there for when i get my aero skirts and sell off the R53's.

And yes, removal is very easy, just remove a couple screws and expanding plastic rivets from underneath, and then pop the door sill off. Door sill will likely be bent, thus destroyed, and you should have only ONE clip break...all the others should be okay. when you pull the clips will likey remain in the car, Don't start pulling on them, simply rotate 45 degrees and they slide right out. there is one clip on each side that will not rotate out...it has to be broken.

Although I have never broken more than one clip, its always good to have extra clips laying around. along with expanding rivets.
