I've received and fitted my Chili Red bumper plugs from bumperplugs.com to mask the holes where the front license plate was fitted by the dealer.

The original holes looked ugly once the plate bracket was removed...

Just drilled out the existing holes with a 5.8mm metal bit, and cleaned them up with a blade...

Took 5 mins, and the result is great...

Looks so much better than the old holes in the bumper skin, and the colour match and finish are spot on!

The bumper plugs a simple push fit, and can be removed if you need to show your license plate 'installed' at a later date

Chris.

AWESOME IDEA!!!!!!!! Do you think that'll work for the holes from the MINI Badge on the boot and bonnet? I'm planning on having body work done to fill the holes, then paint, but in the mean time, I wonder if I could use something like this to plug the holes?

Anyways, they looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing this idea. I love it!

Thank you so much for the detailed pictures! Any suggestions for those of us who don't own a drill?

Not to bust your bubble, but I just went to my local Ace Hardware and bought some nylon pugs for pennies, then daubed them with my touch up paint, and pressed them into the holes in the bumper from the license plate mounting. I think I used the smallest they had, and they were a tight fit. I did remove them since I had to reinstall the front plate for politial reasons, but I have since removed and re-plugged the bumper.

I can't believe the dealer would do such a crummy job when drilling the holes. I guess they just figured you would never know so did not bother to do a good job. This would be a good warning sign to take your MINI elsewhere for service since your original dealership's service technicians obviously take shortcuts and do a half-*** job whenever they think the customer will not notice.

Thank God I live in a no-front-plate-state and told my dealer that I would refuse to take delivery of my MINI if the front bumper had been vandalized with a drill.

Any suggestions for those of us who don't own drills?
Maybe borrow one from your neighbor?

I used chrome nipples:
Janet Jackson style! What sort of hp/performance gains have you noticed since installing them Andy? I'm guessing that the added weight in front might help decrease understeer?

Do you have a before and after comparison graph of the car's cd (drag coefficient) as the result of the polished nipples? SHOW US THE NUMBERS!

>>I'm assuming that all Mini's get their license plate holes at the dealership and not the factory?
>>
>>If that's the case, then it wolud be pretty easy to tell the dealer to not drill them when you order one?

Yes to both questions!
