Gauges

I looked around couldn't find anything about this. I have seen that some people have the tach and speedo right next to each other is there an option for this or is it a mod that can be done? Thanx sorry new and want to get my Mini

That is a Gen1 Option only. And then only for certian configurations. Not available on 2nd Gen cars.

see Alta. They have the best aftermarket solution.

not easily. the location of the old ones was in the center of the car, moving the speedo over next to the tach. That's pretty much impossible on these.

Just check out alta as mentioned. They have some really nice aftermarket gauges.

I'm dying for a temp gauge.

^ i haven't seen that, that's somewhat good, somewhat disappointing news. I'd like to see more options, like oil temp, oil pressure, boost, etc. At least they're offering a coolant temp gauge though.

Check out "Scan Gauge II".EBay has it for $155.It's 8-10 gauges in one.Four gauges can be displayed @ once and even changed while driving. It also decodes the idiot lights and resets them.Kit comes complete with every thing you need.It takes about 5 min to install, plugs in to the OBDII under left dash and lights up @ night in various changable colors. It weighs nothing and is small 4"x11/2"x11/2".Mount it any where you want with the provided self adhesive velcro. X1

This is an amazing tool and gives you all the important info you could ever want in one easy package. The added bonus of checking error codes and re setting them is a huge plus.

^I'd agree with you.

Staring at a digital gauge isn't really the same as looking at an analog style gauge. You have to think about the readout from a digital gauge, an analog gauge you can just glance at and understand what's going on.

Ya even though I won't be able to to retrofit it it will be ok. I loved how it responded and how easy it is to read the tach in the car.

you'd be able to get the gauges shown in the link above, no problem...

I still think Alta might be the better option because they have the boost, and water temp, and exhaust gas temp... a bit more performance oriented then the "relative torque" gauge.

I went with the Stewart Warner boost and temp gauges mounted in the Alta dual pod.

Installation was relatively easy, the gauges look like stock, and it all works as advertised!

how did you tap in for the water temp?

did you buy one of the little couplers from m7 to take temp readings of the actual coolant being circulated, or did you tap the bottom of the reserve tank?
