Hey motorers,
Anyone know where you can purchase a chrome or stainless gas cap cover for an '06 MCS? I want a metal one, not one of the chrome plated plastic versions!! Check most of the parts sites and don't find exactly what I want.

Thats funny, my gas cap is the one chromed part that is metal. I don't know where you'd look but for a little bit different look check out Sparco's fuel door. I do not know if it'll work, but if it did, it would be sweet. http://www.sparcousa.com/ptuning_acc.asp?id=476

Thanks. That is sort of what I am looking for but the ones I have in mind don't have the lever in the middle. They just have a sort of half moon cutout at the edge so you can open the cover with your finger. I think some of the new Mustang GT's have the look I am after but don't know who makes one for a Mini. I have seen a couple on cars but did not have a chance to inquire about the origin. Several vendors have plastic plated ones but not metal.

 

This might sound funny, but see if JC Whitney has one. I have seen metal versions of that type, but not sure if they have one for the Coopers.

 

Products like this are probably going to be universal. If you can find a mini-specific part let us know. I'd be interested. But be prepared for universal parts and make sure you have measurements and know exactly what you want. I have to agree, JC Whitney is a tremendous collection of parts of all kinds, its probably a good place to start. From there I'd look at companies that distrubute for the sport compact/import scene. Yeah those things, if you've never seen one in person, always look cheap. It is plastic and it has "synthesized" or painted-on screwheads etc...

 

Hmmm...that gives me an idea. Machined stainless steel or aluminum, with custom engraving.

i think moss mini has a nice one but very very pricy at 200 dollars.

Thanks kb30. I assume from the eBay listing that the one you have is metal and not plastic. Do you happen to know the brand of the one you have and where, other than Moss, these are available? Only ones I find on eBay at this time are plastic. Thanks

 

Yeah, this part is all metal.I haven't recieved it yet but when i do i will check to see if there is a brand name somewhere on it. But they are very very nice i had one just like it for my second gen miata and it was gorgeous so i am glad i found this one dirt cheap. But to be honest i really don't know of any other place that carries it. It was just blind luck If you keep an eye out you can get some great deals on ebay. i got the whole "chrom design" rings for the interior for about 60 dollars! Moss would have charged me 400 bucks or so!!
