Question about front grill... on the Aero kit

I was recently informed that the JCW black grill surround will not fit the Aero kit... something about the bottom piece of the top grill being different. I realize that the lower grill in the bumper is completely different, but since its already all black it is no concern.

can anyone verify this?? I didnt really want to plasticoat it, but may be my only option

Plasti Dip spray paint. Amazing stuff. you can peel it off if you ever want the chrome back!

Yeah I realized this too after being given a JCW grill...very disappointed lol. But I just painted all the chrome trim on my car. Scuffed it down, primered it, base coated it with a Graphite Grey Pearl, then cleared it...here's a pic. I plan on doing the beltline soon. For now just the headlight/taillight rings and the grill surround.

Sorry for reviving this thread.. Just wanted to see if there's any replacement for the aero kit grille? I ordered the JCW grille from outmotoring and it didn't fit (just like their website said Doh!). I then plasti-dipped everything and it looks nice, but I just cant get over how I dont like the actual grille portion and would love to make the JCW fit, or even the grille from M7.

Anyone know of anything made for us Aero-kitters?

i still havent found anything :( the minute i do itll be in here though!

you CAN get a JCW to fit, BUT you have to trim it. if you look at ours and then a regular one, ours is MORE CURVED, thus you trim the regular one's squared corners off

talking about the bottom peice... this is only if all the clips line up, which im sort of uncertain

I went plasti-dip crazy last summer before I deicided to paint everything body color. That stuff was awesome!!

I wish they made it in different colors!

Nice to see someone else with the Aero kit, I love mine as well!

I think all us Aero kit people made the mistake of buying the JCW and realizing it didn't fit. I did the same...still have it, haven't bothered to sell it yet. The plasti-dip is a much cheaper and is reusable. Gotta love that!

JCW grille is different

I had mine off yesterday to put the JCW surround on. The lower grille lip on the factory grill is about 3/4-inch wide. The JCW grille is about 1/2 inch wide, several of the attachment points appear different in length as well.

I just wanted to post in here with us aero-kit pain people...

I noticed my plasti-dip peeling on my grille today. I'm feeling kind of dumb in hindsight as I think I caused it by using some bug/tar remover to get all these NM bugs off the front of my car. The peeling spots look very much like the bug splatters themselves. I'm debating re applying the plasti-dip or seeing if Lagston can do a vinyl wrap on the grille. Anyone know if he does them for the aero kit?

no not at all. simply take a flat screwdriver and undo those plastic rivets that affix the top of the black plastic grill to the radiator support (youll see like all 4(?) when the hood it up).

then, if you gently pull that towards you to see down behind it there are plastic (i guess 'V' shaped clips that clip into the top of the bumper cover.

From the side of the grill (behind it) take the screwdriver and push the right side of the V towards the left and the left towards the right to free them from thier holes.

there are 2 in the middle down there too by the radiator...you can usually reach your hand in and squeeze them and theyll let go. You just have to keep lightly pulling on it so they dont reengage and click back to the bumper again,

Then the bottom chrome trim will come off Attached to the big plastic grille.

There are just tabs on the end of the trim behind it that you push w your finger and then a bunch along it you just pop lightly w a flat screwdriver workng from one side to the other. Its very simple when your actually doing it lol
