Any one have dealer installed chrome mirrors? If you can post a picture or email it to me I'd appreciate it. I've got a Black on Black MCS ordered and as of now I'm planning on having the dealer install chrome mirrors. The MA thought the mirrors were new components rather than chrome covers. Can anyone set the record straight? I'd hate to pay for installation on an item that only needs me to pull paper off 3M foam tape! More important how do they look?

What is your opinion? Chrome mirrors or not? They will or will not be going on my Black on Black MCS with Beige interior, polished rims, chrome grille, white tail lights.

Why don't you live with the car for a couple of weeks with the stock mirrors? You can always add the covers later (I am pretty sure that is what they are).

They are also a great idea if your mirror body gets damaged.

Good luck with your MINI!

Regards,
Red

I have them on my car... one of my friends (who's also a MA at the dealer) and I put them on in about 45 seconds with a flathead screwdriver. Just pop the old ones off, and pop these on. You are correct, Red03, they are simply covers. A bit pricey in my opinion though like $120ish with my discount - but I *am* a broke college kid. But, they're nice to have to make the car different. I also bought the stock blue leather shift ****.

There are at least two different Chrome mirror covers on the market. One is a aftermarket setup that sticks on with tape OVER your existing mirrors. They look kinda crappy when installed in comparison to the OEM Mirror covers. The OEM covers are actually replacement shells, and are well made. They install by prying off the OEM covers and placing the new ones on. They fit perfect and have no strange or irregular gaps.

BTW, the ones that MOSS sells are the stick on ones. The ones we sell are the OEM ones.

I’ve got Chrome Mirrors on my all black S, but sadly I’ve yet to take any pictures yet. I fond it really finishes the car off, just a nice little touch.

I am getting the mirror chrome cap covers in my '04 MCS as well. The pair costs $123 (Yes they are pricey) but it is the OEM MINI part, not the self adhesive aftermarket junk sold elsewhere.

I am also getting the 3 slats Chrome MCS front grille. The part retails for $96.25 and I am currently negotiating the labor installation charge with the dealer.

I just put the OEM chrome mirror caps on my chili red and white MCS. They really look great. Took about 5 minutes to install both of them.

To take the originals off all you have to do is grab them right where the cover (white on my car) connects with the black part of the mirror housing on the upper inside corner and pull hard. The new ones just pop right on.

Thinking of doing the chrome grill next.

Motor on

I'm going with chrome mirrors and grill on my ds s(w). Just saw the same set up on the freeway the other day and it looked sweet, in a retro sort of way.

I have oem chrome covers for my dks/dks mcs. I really like them, they're very high quality items compared to some of the aftermarket stuff I've seen. I bought mine from Classic MINI in Cleveland--20% discount, so I think they're around $110 + tax.

You can install them yourself, there's a good how-to on the MINI2 forums under their FAQ section. It took me about 10 minutes of messing around with a jeweler's screwdriver and a plastic spoon (believe it or not) and quite a bit of swearing, but the stock covers popped off and the chrome ones snap right on. They look really good and always get a second look from other MINI drivers here in Pittsburgh.

I've also added a chrome antenna base cover and chrome windshield washer covers--$20 on eBay.
