vomit protection: carpet vs. rubber floor mats

Well, my daughter threw-up again while sitting in the back. The rear carpet mat was soaked with a pool of vomit. I just threw it in the washing machine. This repeat incident made me think if I should get rubber mats, but then I was wondering if the vomit was spill more to other areas if it was rubber since it would be less likely to get absorbed or held onto as it would with the carpet fibers. What do y'all think? (sorry, no pictures)

My (Factory) rubber mats have a raised border/ catch-all going around the outside that catches all of the spills, snow, water, etc i can throw at em . All depends how much comes out and spills i guess.

Ok, I can't resist... threw up "again" in the back seat.

Call me crazy but I believe there may be a bigger problem at play here then whether you should have carpet or rubber floor mats.

Maybe you should grab a barf bag from the next aircraft you are on. Heck grab several, I have feeling this may be ongoing.

I was going to suggest an option, but I don't think Child Welfare
would approve!

Is your daughter an infant projectile vomiting or an older child who has not outgrown car sickness yet? Old enough to understand instructions? OK, now don't laugh:

Go to home depot. Get a wide-mouth funnel, a small diameter shop vac hose, an oil catch pan(plastic). Oil pan on the floor, funnel tied to the car seat, shop-vac hose connects them together. "honey when you feel sick .. lean into this funnel"

Tell those who ask it is a new intercooler design.

I swear by rubber mats, but if you continue to go with carpet Scotchgard them!

Better than drugging up with dramamine are these...
http://www.seaproductsonline.com/index69.html

I was REALLY skeptical about these when someone told me about them. My youngest son would get car sickness EVERY time we went on a trip longer than 30 minutes. After using these he hasn't gotten sick even once. I can't explain it, but I know my car's carpets are clean, and I have to pass this on.

yeah i had this incident, friend threw up in the car, must have been something he ate. but good thing was i had those deep rubber mats and so it pretty much caught everything, just had to wash it off, and spray my car with some air freshner.
