Is the R56 supposed to come with rubber cupholder inserts. it just seems odd that you can see the screw holding down the console in there. and you figure after a while it would really start to get grungy. all of my other cars had a rubber insert that you could pull out and wash. Does Mini or anyone make the inserts?

 

Unfortunately the cupholder's in the R56 do not come with rubber inserts and I agree about the grunge build up around the exposed screws.A cup of soda overflowed and I had to remove the screw to clean up the sticky mess under it.Someone posted a thread not long ago that he made MINI inserts that fit in them but as far as locating rubber inserts to buy I have no idea.

well this is what i was afraid of. how can mini make all kinds of little do-dads and what not, and not make some cupholder inserts. well i guess i will have to get creative. there has got to be a similar size out there that will drop in. i tried the ones from my 2008 R32 and they were just a little bit too small.

 

^^devious duck when I clicked Dubian's link that he posted I saw this:

I never knew that the dealerships have them so see if you can get a set from your local dealership.

 

About the rear cup holder in my MCS: I want to put the hinged cup that came with the car in it, but it is a loose fit (it does not have the rubber flaps that the front ones do.)
Is there a fitment available or do I need to get creative on my own? (I'm thinking velcro...)

 

That is the ashtray and that is where I moved mine and not a problem with rattles.

 

The dealer just gave us the rubber inserts when we took delivery. My wife (Hottie Chocolate) and I now have them in all cup holders in both cars. Your local dealership may have them as give aways or a small charge. It is nice to have them. I hope you can find some.
