Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” There is such a word, however.

As a relively new NAMMER can someone explain to me why all these R53'ers come into the R56 board and on to any thread about any M7 product either started by the vendor on not and stir it up?

I just don't get it, and I can't see what they're accomplishing.

As a moderator and a professional marketing director may I make a friendly suggestion - would it be better for Peter to say the following:

"We don't know what the effect of our ground effects package is at this date - many of our butt dyno pirates have said it is FANTASTIC! We personally think it adds significant visual impact to the car! M7 is attempting to schedule a test date for the car in a small wind tunnel proving validation of the butt dyno claims. Please stay tuned for further updates."

If you say "we will be able to possibly test the car in a small wind tunnel at a future date... " that means you don't know for sure and possibly will never know and that creates doubt in the mind of the consumer and your products.

DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER: The following is a joke.

I don't think M7 needs any help with marketing.

Having watched these M7 threads get flooded by haters for years....I can easily say that he would meet the same criticism had he said it the way you suggested. The word "attempting" still implies that they don't know whether they will be able to do it or not......and then saying "Please stay tuned for further updates" is often ridiculed as 'hype' and stringing people on. If they are then unable to get the wind tunnel time....the future update that was mentioned won't live up to expectations and will meet further criticism because they didn't live up to the "hype".

There really is no true way to escape the criticism from a certain few "pot stirrers"...someone will always be able to pick out a flaw somewhere.Heck, they've already started giving Peter a hard time about the title that he gave to one of his photos based on its shutter speed.

Well, I for one think the new cosmetic offerings from M7 look hot! I'm hoping that there are some future equally pretty looking parts for the Clubman.

I would add some more constructive criticism ala Mr. Krut:

It's obvious that these are bling parts - made to look good.

There's nothing wrong with that! People buy flashy aero kits and useless wings all the time, knowing deep down that they are for show only.

I for one like the look and would helpfully suggest that you don't even bother attempting to prove that these parts are somehow functional or somehow register on the vaunted "butt dyno" - even though I'd gladly be a customer if those parts fit the clubman - that line made me roll my eyes.

Or maybe it was an attempt at humor......

Either way - how hard are the installs on the spoiler and diffuser?

Under promise. Over deliver.

Think about it. If it smells like hype, posts like hype and reads like hype, then it's hype. Do you really want me to spend the time to search and post all the crap that he hyped and never delivered? Give me a break. He could have kept his trap shut about the wind tunnel. If it happened, great. If it didn't, no one knows about. But he wants to come out and act the big shot? Ef that. If he hasn't learned a lesson by now, then he is dumber than he looks in the picture with the racing suit on.

I never said he doesn't hype things....I was simply pointing out that the suggested alternative statement wouldn't solve the problem because it still contained hype....so he would receive the same criticism.

Abso-friggin-lutely.

But here is a thought. Don't post shiete until you've done what you claim to do, have the hard data in hand and are ready to answer the hard questions.

You don't see Jan posting about what his products WILL do. He only posts about what his products HAVE done. This little M7 number of having the customers beta test their products was already old about a year and a half ago. You test the products before you put them out, not after.

Just out of curiosity....can you point out where he mentioned what aerodynamic improvements this product WILL do rather than what the parts HAVE done?

I've re-read the first post a few times...and all I'm seeing is mention of what the parts HAVE done. I don't see any mention that the product WILL provide a certain amount of downforce etc. He simply states his butt-dyno findings....which is something that the products HAVE done (the value of a butt-dyno is of course debatable....but the results HAVE happened).

I do not think that he has claimed any WILL's in this thread....besides saying that he will try getting some wind tunnel test done if possible.

have the hard data in hand and are ready to answer the hard questions.
He was plenty ready....he answered the hardest question before it was even asked.

From the very first post:

We have never tested the part in a lab/ wind tunnel as the price is just a little bit beyond our (most peoples) pocketbooks.

Disclaimer: the reasoning is impaired due to Patron Silver consumption.

No, I can't. I will therefore agree that there are no improvements.

Once again I will have to agree. There is no mention of what the parts have done. Just the usual descriptions of the butt dyno. Frankly, at this point, I am afraid of his close affiliation with the term.

Another M7 thread brought down to the lowest common denominator. Fan friggen tastic. Frankly I'm getting tired of this petty juvenile bollocks.
