I have a 2004 MCS without the aero kit. I was wondering what exactly is involved in the conversion from normal to aero kit... i appreciate any help thanks

Buy the aero kit, have it painted, remove your old bumpers and side skirts. And then put the new aero kit on. I did my rear bumper in about 45 minutes in the dark without a jack. So it really isn't that hard to switch them out.

Side skirts are really easy too. Mine took an hour for both sides but could have been done sooner had I not been gabbing so much with my wife while doing them.

morristown mini has them for $900 right now. sometimes they're even cheaper there. i love the aerokit but can't justify spending $1k+ on looks when the same $ can get me more go elsewhere

what kinda surprises me is that there hasn't been any taiwan rip-off replicas of the aero kit for cheap

I like the look but am starting to get into the same mindset. I have the sideskirts and think they look great. I do sometimes look at the car and feel they do not match with the front bumper so I have even thought of putting the regular black skirts back on.

To get around the kit I have been toying with the tried and true normal grill with black slats. I have also been thinking of getting aero grill and painting the edges body color. I have seen that on a PW with the aero kit but not without one. It may be just enough of a change.

For the original poster I would look at options like this and see if it give the look you want to achieve. While the aero kit is nice it is expensive.

I agree with the fact that it's expensive...i really like the front bumper aero kit especially the black grills. I have seen people just install the black grills from the aero kit into their non aero bumper. How difficult is this modification?

Not to hard The top part is easy, the bottom requires some cutting. There are many write ups on it.

Essentially, you have to trim the thickness of the grill down by 1/4" (IIRC), and then cut your own tab slots into the bumper b/c the aero grille tabs are in different positions than your standard grille tabs. Also, unless you have black, you're going to want to shoot black paint into the recessed area so you don't have your body color showing through.

As someone mentioned previously, the top grille is too easy. Just make sure you have a flat bladed screw driver (to apply pressure on the self threading nuts) and then use your socket to uncrew the nuts

PUT A TOWEL DOWN OVER THEN ENGINE BAY FIRST. This way you won't lose any nuts
