Anyone put a lumbar support in 08MCS w/Leatherette?

I'm wanting to install a lumbar support in my new 08 MCS with leatherette. I can feel the hole in the seat cushion where the lumbar support adjustment would go, so I was thinking is should be an easy add on. Anyone try this yet?

I was really dissapointed when I noticed my 08 MCS w/ leatherette didn't have any lumbar support and the seats are so obviously designed for it.
Keep us posted.

The cloth/leather seats also have the lumbar support.

looks relatively simple, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...22&hg=52&fg=10
03SPRING MAT, BACKREST LEFT
1 x 52102752613 $66

03SPRING MAT, BACKREST RIGHT
1 x 52102752614 $66

04HANDWHEEL
2 x 52102751387 $10 each (via pelicanparts)

seats usually aren't that difficult to pull apart & re-assemble if you have some hogrings & hogring pliers, but I'd rather drop them at an upholstery shop ...

Those two part numbers appear to be the same for the regular spring mats.

ah bummer, didn't notice that, well it could be that all you need to do is add the handle.

If you want to check & see if the mechanism & bowden cable are already there, there are 3 screws under the seat release at the top of your seatback. 1 holds the handle on, the two below it hold the seatback secured.
once you've removed them you can tug the seatback off...
Might just have to buy the handle...

I wonder if the Handwheel 52102751387 is the only thing missing from seats without the lumbar support?

First!

Curiosity is going to get me one of these days. Taking off the back panel was pretty easy. Undo small T15 screw under handle and slide handle out. Undo two T25 screws and washers. The seat back at that corner will then be free. About where your right shoulder blade would be when sitting in the seat is big plastic hook. Pushing in in that location and pulling back on the upper right corner of the seat back will free that hook. Then just lift the seatback up.

Here's that clip:

Here's the hole where the handle would attach:

But, I can't exactly tell what wire or whatever it would attach to to affect lumbar support.

I think the lumbar support dial is just turns the pad in the seat, its not electric to my knowledge.

there should be an additional plastic plate across the seatback springs and a cable, when you turn the **** on the outside it tightens or loosens the cable bowing the lumbar support plate. I don't know if there's a live person at pelican parts, but you could likely call your local dealer and ask about ordering the parts ..

btw, thanks for posting up that video

I don't suppose

I don't suppose we could get someone with the lumbar support to take pictures. i can provide more detail and would even be willing to talk someone through it over the phone to ensure the R&R process goes smoothly.

I'd love this, and was also surprised that the sport seat in my new mcs didn't have this by default. Being 6'6", lumbar support is a good thing ...

Same question - anything new?

We have an 07 MC with Sport Seats...we wrongly assumed that we would get adjustable lumbar support when we ordered it....we both have back problems and it's getting to be pretty uncomfortable.

I've checked into adding an aftermarket kit and there are local people who will add a rubber bladder with an electric pump. They say that it looks original, but I'm not thrilled about it. It's $189 per seat and apparently many shops do it.

We really need to find someone with lumbar support that can open their seat back so we can have a look. Ideally they could get a part number for that black piece that looks to be needed for lumbar.

Number 3 is the entire spring assembly. What we need is the part that is on the lower half of the assembly. I think that's what that other number that says YES next to it dictates. It may be possible to specify that number to the dealer in order to get the specific part we need. I don't think I'd end up doing it, though, since it looks like you would need to pull of the entire seat covering (i.e. the leatherette itself) and that's too big a job for me.

Talked with an auto upholsterer today. He said because of the airbags and the heating unit it is a very difficult job... not impossible but can be very labor intense and thus very spendy. Guess I'll be looking into other options... seat cover with support like Wet Okoles or lumber support pillow that can be attached to the seat.
