Anyone install their roof spoiler?

Just curious if this is something that is best left to the service department or if its a simple swap.

I'm going to order the roof spoiler from the accessory catalog. It is very crisp and has the look I'm going for, just trying to save a few bucks in the process.

Thanks

What spoiler are you going to add and do you have one now? From what I've read it's pretty simple. A couple of bolts and a tug to release the sealant.

If you're swapping out a regular Cooper spoiler for an S spoiler or the JCW spoiler, then this is very simple to do on the R56. It's five bolts that you remove, swap the spoilers, and re-tighten. The bolts are on the inside boot door and are covered by plastic caps that are easily removeable too.

Accessory Spoiler

I'm replacing the stock S spoiler with the one from the accessory catalog. Thanks for the info. It seems pretty easy, maybe that's why the dealer offered to install it for free when I spoke to them today.

That's good! Have the dealer do it. It really shouldn't take more than about 5 or 10 minutes if you know how to do it.

Huh? There's a different 'S' spoiler in the accessories catalogue? Anyone have a link to a pic?

I checked that link above and it's probably the spoiler I want. But I also want to find this one:

Anyone know where I can find this? I checked MINI USA but no go. And my dealer was going to charge me $70 so I'm going it alone.

that's the stock MCS spoiler, the one from the accessory catalog sits higher and doesn't have the center support.

MINI Aero Spoiler

Is this the one?

I just installed one on my '09 JCW. It's a very nice look. You don't see many around. It's extremely easy to install. Five 10mm nuts under rubber covers under the rear boot. Just be careful taking the nuts off and don't drop them un the open space between the two panels.

That probably is the one I'll go with. And thanks for the tip, Bama. Wouldn't want to lose those nuts...
