Sidemarker Chrome job from Mossmini

I just recieved the $110 sidemarkers from mossmini. Is it just me or is this a poor chrome job? Anyone else get this type of thing from mossmini, is this normal? Note the texturing and discoloration (it's yellowish up next to a stock chrome job) Am I expecting too much?

It almost looks like they just took the stock side grilles from the cooper and just had them chromed without sanding down the texture.

haha, quick reply, that's exactly what I thought. I will be returning them...

Oh btw here's the photo from their website...and the description...

"Mini Coopers have distinctive chrome front grilles. Now you can replace the flat black side marker grills with matching brilliant chrome grills. It seems like a minor change, but the effect is dramatic."

I have those same "chrome" grills, and though they aren't as yellowed as yours, they are hardly bright and shiny. That said, they do look a lot better than the stock black ones, IMHO.

I just got the flamed ones from Moss and the quality is good. I might return them as the flames are the wrong direction in my opinion(tail of flame faces front of car). What is involved in changing these? I am not sure about replacing these without damage.

Wonder if they were just nickel plated and didnt get chromed, since nickel is more of a yellowish color, and is done before chroming. Maybe?

is popping them out from the front the best way? seems every time I do something with plastic tabs on my car i break something.

ie; headlight rings, the lights in the side markers... etc

It worked fine. Just get behind it being careful for the paint and they pop right out with little pressure.

To mossmini's credit, they took them back and refunded me for the shipping charges both ways!

Hope they get some that have the smooth appearance.
